I got our Ranger washed today, noticed some paint chips so I fixed them with a touch up paint pen. After it all dried I then installed an AVS Aeroskin hood protector that I got on sale at Amazon. I think it came out looking good, and hopefully I won't have so many paint chips to touch up on the hood anymore.

Had no idea they still made the one without that giant hump, neato.

I was thinking of getting this one and paint to match. (I know, PPF would make more sense)

I can't imagine it would be too hard to vinyl wrap the aeroskin in a close matching blue while it is off the truck. Might be more durable than the paint and certainly easier to replace as it chips

What protects the paint from abrasion of the Aeroskin in turbulence?

My AVS is the Hoodflector and is screwed to the hood and then has the rubber bumpers to keep it from banging against hood.

I had one on a previous Ranger and put the bumper on Hoodflector cause I didn't want to stick it on the hood, bad move the bumper wore through the paint.

Mine arrived yesterday morning, I think that Easter bunny brought it, I have never had an Amazon delivery at 7:00AM, there is a first for everything.

You people getting paint chips in the hood, do you do a lot of highway driving? Also, are you getting chips on the lower painted areas?

Double sided 3M tape.
I have this one on my truck. Does not use tape to mount. Instead it uses the mounting points for the hood seal. They give you some clear rubber bumpers for potential rubbing issues. But I couldn’t make it move enough to even get close to touching

The BugFlector II attaches the way you are describing. That's the one I have.

My AVS Bugflector II is attached with fasteners into the existing hood holes. Solid mounting and clean looking. Didn't put on the bumpers...it would take brute force for it to touch the hood and by that time the damage would probably be severe enough to where the protection wouldn't matter anyway. If I did install the bumpers would put them on the deflector instead of the paint.

Yeah a good bit of my driving is highway. That being said the chips I had on the hood weren't too bad, 4 small spots that I was able to fill with one press of the paint pen each.

The painted portion of of the vehicle under the headlights and grille I noticed one slight bigger spot and one small one. That section though I believe is painted plastic.
