Quick youtube of one section of the Archers Firebreak trail in Tilamook, OR.

Great developed trail system from mild to wild, and this particular trail is broken up into numerous sections, allowing you to opt out of the black diamonds.

I found the blue square trails, intermediate, to be decently challenging for a stock ride height vehicle, especially loaded up for a 2-week overland adventure with about 900 pounds of gear. I was also solo, so I didn't want to get stuck, but the black diamonds all looked like they required 35's or body damage.

2000 mile trip up the CA, OR, and WA coast to the Hoh River for the first fall salmon run, then out to eastern WA and OR for trout.

Had a ton of problems with the truck. Highly considering trading it back in, pretty fed up. Lost A/C for the second time on the drive home, numerous carplay and convenience issues, rough shifting...

Never been there.

But since when have offroad trails been marked like ski slopes?

Damn I'm getting old.

Haha, ever since mountain biking became a mainstream sport. OR has the largest network of maintained mountain bike trails I've ever seen, so it makes sense that it goes to other sports.

Most OHV areas use this nowadays, even in California.

I felt the black diamonds were double black, especially considering the place becomes a crapshow in winter.

The looks narrow. Did you pick up any new pin-striping?

Must be a west coast thing. Haven't seen that around here, although I don't get out as much as I used to, and we've got a lot of bikers.

That's actually something I wouldn't mind seeing make it's way out here from there.

I had some pretty bad pinstriping after about 500 miles, but ugh, I got a pretty solid dent in the driver door on one of the trails. In fact, I think it's in this very video, I haven't gone through the other ones.

Looks like you're driving up a footpath
You're telling me! This was a fairly wide one too! They are all very narrow, although I've seen a fullsize F150 do it. I had to stop worrying about keeping mine pretty awhile ago or I would go mad.

Make it happen! =D

I think one thing most of the trails lack, be it MTB or moto or Jeep, is a "decider" at the vert start. There are OHV parks up in WA that do this, where it's a pretty challenging entry into the trail or park, to prove you can get through most stuff.

WOW that looks like a dirt bike trail not a 4WD trail. Is that area marked well? I may have to try that area as I camp in Netarts which is next to Tillamook a lot.

Thanks,

All the trails are well marked and instruct you on whether it can accommodate a "Jeep", although do be careful that some of them don't specifically say the direction; just follow the general OHV rule of "everything goes uphill".

The confusing part is that the myriad of fireroads aren't marked, and both Google Maps and satnav show some roads as viable options, when you will find that they are barely wide enough for a bike.

But the Archers Trail follows the entire Archers fireroad, so it's very easy to follow, it can just get a little confusing if you venture off there.

Enter from the east side of the park as the trail originates on that side.
