I haven't fully tested the wind noise yet, but the textured rubber insert on top is supposedly designed to help. There are also strips provided to close gaps on the bottom, too. When I first installed the racks, I didn't have time to get those rubber strips put in. With that big groove in the top, it started to HOWL at 30 mph and just got louder from there! Maybe it helped keep me from hitting deer! Anyway, the inserts were in the next day and its quiet up to 55 mph. Above that, I haven't checked yet.
I should say that I have used Yakima round bars on various vehicles for probably 35 years, so I am accustomed to a little noise.
