Im looking into the purchase of a Mod Buggy 12LRK……. I was wondering if any members had any input on Teardrops or if they in fact have a Mod Buggy of their own?

Sorry, no information on the Teardrop campers. I like it though.

I had a NoBo 10.6 which was easy for how 2016 Pilot AWD. I can tell you that thing will be a breeze on the Ranger. That said, I still recommend a weight dist. hitch.

I tow a GeoPro 19BH now with the Ranger.

I towed my homemade teardrop with my 2005 Ranger 4x4 4.0L V6 all over the Smoky Mountains and down to the Everglades and Fla Keys. You should be fine.

No special hitch or springs. I did step the ball down a few inches.

I would take all the stuff off the roof of the camper and put it in the truck bed.

Almost got one similar to that but opted for a bigger travel trailer instead.
1) They’re way too expensive new. The one I wanted was $13-15k depending on the model year and dealer pricing.
2) I needed something with a bit more storage capacity to accommodate the wife and baby’s stuff. We’re still able to dry camp, which is mostly what we do, but the trailer we bought also has full hookup capabilities. I also like that there’s minimal setup required. Put the jacks down, plug the battery in, turn on the propane, unroll the canopy, done… Setup takes 5 minutes.

Those little teardrop trailers like the one you posted have more clearance and more capable of light off-roading. They’re super lightweight, you’ll have no problems towing it.

I tow an intech flyer explore which is between the size of a teardrop and a travel trailer. The living space is 10 feet long, 5.5 feet wide, and 5.5 feet tall with no plumbing of any kind and an outdoor kitchen. It weighs around 2500 lbs with a hitch weight of around 400 lbs fully loaded. It tows easy! No problems of any kind. I use tow/haul mode and give myself 20% ish more room to stop. No weight distribution hitch yet.

Man, got me missing our NoBo.... The batwing awning with walls with a propane firepit made for a great time when it was cold outside (under 40F still comfy). (Edit: miss that Pilot too, upgraded to a '23 and eh, pro and cons).

I have a Rustic Trail Kodiak we camp in. Fully loaded I'm right at 2700lbs. Truck doesn't know it's back there. I have the Redarc trailer brake and just a 6inch drop hitch, still return over 20mpg for most of our trips.

That's good to hear. I was wondering if you were going to pull the trigger and purchase one.

Thought provoking question - is the rooftop tent craze on the decline ? When I was in Moab a few weeks back only recall seeing two and I saw a good variety of varying camp setups.

I continue to be amazed at how many people are towing Razors and other side bys and how many places rent those things and how many of my neighbors have one, my perilous prediction - give it a few more yrs and those things will be widely available on the used market at steep discounts.

Better be REAL steep. Those things cost as much as a nicely optioned Civic.
