So I finally got my dealer to agree that I could ue my 42,000 points to put towards the pivot tool box. So, from those who have this, which side did you go with and why. i can see the driver side being easier to get into but I know this is the side where the power outlet would be should I ever have a need to put on in that spot.

So what side did you go with and why?

Thanks -

I went passenger because I did put in a 12v socket so I kinda had to.

I used the Driver's side because of the ability to reach with my Right hand into the box more easily than if it was on the Passenger side. Imagine you are standing at the side of the tailgate and facing the box swiveled out from the Left side of the bed. the hinge is to your left. Reaching with your Roghtr hand is a more natural position. Be sides, it's closer to the Driver's side door which I would normally be approaching the Bed from.

Do you provide power to something in the box that can't be removed and used on either side? Or is the outlet on the Driver's side and would be covered by the box? Curious why outlet dictated box location.

The wiring that comes on our trucks for the 12v bed socket is on the driver side. There’s not enough wire to route it to passenger. Could be spliced I’m sure but I wasn’t concerned with orientation so I stuck with driver side for power and passenger for the swing box.
I put in the socket to power a dometic fridge fwiw.

Just checked mine. Couldn’t get a pic because it’s raining, but the bottom of the box is the same distance out as the base of the wheel arch. So technically they don’t stick out any further than the wheel arches. Of course the top of the arch isn’t as far out as the base, so the upper box does stick out further than the top edge of the arch.

Thanks for the pics, I had to order the middle cargo tie downs and bolts as well. I think my truck was built in those months where they didn't install them for whatever reason. The installed pics make the box look bigger than ford's promo pics which is a good thing.
i've got a bed rug so i think the install will be a bit more challenging

I ordered the pass side with my points. I dont get into the box often so it is easier for me as Im more likely to put stuff on the driver side of the bed when I transport things.

A couple photos of mine if it helps.
I installed my swing case before I installed the outlet so it worked

The install itself was easy. Do some measuring. Easy to find the harness under the bed. You need the right size hole saw for metal for the plug itself. Then you drill the four holes for the screws. The wiring harness just plugs in. Very simple...
Until you are sitting there working up the nerve to drill holes in your brand new truck... Better measure again... First new vehicle I have bought since 1986... Better measure one more time... Deep breath...
