Exact same symptoms as my 2019.
Repair was 11 hours due to full dash removal, and with parts and labor it ran up to $3,600.
I called the Ford corporate customer service line, told em the price I got quoted, admitted I was out of warranty but felt this was such a common issue that I should check and see if they might help me out.
They covered nearly $3k and gave me a 60k maintenance plan under the goodwill program
Others have tried this and it has worked. Others haven’t had the luck. It’s worth trying tho.
Good luck!
I have already experienced this with my 2020 Ranger. It was a cracked distribution box. $2400 later, I am back up and running. Not a positive image for Ford. Heck, I was only about 38k in mileage.Well there it goes. Heat on the drivers side only no adjustments. The passenger side works as it should. Really hating Ford and this pos right now. Prolly looking at a 2k bill for the holidays, nice.
Yea unfortunately for us there's a lot of ticking timebombs in this Gen RangerSo you are telling me I only have 9K miles to go before my AC system goes out? Sounds like it is time to trade it in for a newer model.

Well you can add me to the list now, just tonite being 33* I had the heat on, during my long trip home, got to be a bit much so I turned it off and heard a cracking like plastic grinding hard to put in words, I immediately lowered the radio pressed the button back on (single zone) heard a lesser sound, off again the louder cracking sound.Wonder what the % of 2019's have had this issue ? ? sounds like all of them if you read this forum...
Let us know how it goes with the ESP. That time of year where we turn the heat on and for many of us, it never turns off lol. Does seem like there are several more people getting it recently.Well you can add me to the list now, just tonite being 33* I had the heat on, during my long trip home, got to be a bit much so I turned it off and heard a cracking like plastic grinding hard to put in words, I immediately lowered the radio pressed the button back on (single zone) heard a lesser sound, off again the louder cracking sound.
I’m only getting cool air and thru the defrost only no matter if I chose dash vents or lower foot well.
Also sounds like the sound is coming from two distinct places one from the right footwell under glove box and the other from the lower portion of the center stack.
I guess I’m off to see the wizard and test out my Flood Ford ESP warranty.
( 2019 XL single zone, 19,120 miles.)
Vehicles that are only a couple years old having such a major part failure certainly not from age or usage it's a defective designed part thats ashame.Let us know how it goes with the ESP. Given all the issues here and the representative sample that generates for the rest of the Rangers sold, this issue definitely seems like a good candidate for a recall. But I think given the cost of replacement, they may be reluctant to pull the trigger on that. Purely speculation, but I think this is maybe why we have stories of folks calling Ford Customer Care and begging for mercy to be refunded the cost of repair. I think they know it's an issue and anyone willing to ask for help will get it instead of issuing a full-on recall.Vehicles that are only a couple years old having such a major part failure certainly not from age or usage it's a defective designed part thats ashamed.
