I live in Cabo San Lucas Mexico. I have a 2022 Ranger Raptor with 12 ,000 miles no modifications but I have a 52kg camper shell on back for my tools and dogs. I noticed this small bed crack 6 months before I had my camper. Didn’t think much of it. Now it’s massive and the weld inside the bed I assume is broke. And it sounds like someone is playing a steel drum when I hit bumps. So I was driving the other day and saw another 2022 raptor Ranger parked. I asked the owner if he had an issues with the bed. He laughed walked me over to his Raptor. SAME THING! Now it gets better, my neighbor has a standard 2021 Ranger xlt,,,,,,,,I asked to look, his bed too is cracked. Ford rejected my warranty due to a camper, I’m pissed, these other guys are all contacting Ford International. What a cheap POS bed or weld or engineering flaw. Hope we don’t have to lawyer up. Always both of our brakes scream when used while truck is in reverse… another wierd issue
Come on Ford be better than this. Here are all 3 how can Nissan, Toyota, Chevy etc all have beds capable of a shell or rack but if you spend $70,000 on Ford tough production Raptor you better not take it off road

If Ford won't do anything (Warranty) Wise

I do not know what kind of access, there is in the corner from inside the bed (At That Spot)

First, I would stop drill the crack - Crack End - beginning to run down the side, like you neighbors
This will stop the crack from progressing any further
The other end (appears) to end on the flange, so it cannot progress any further

Now for the (popping) noise coming from the crack

I would check the bed attach bolts for security, if they are all tight then we need to explore options to close up the gap at the crack.

Option 1:
Install washers between the bed and frame (spacers) at the ends of the bed and possibly the middle as well.
This will close the gap at the crack.

Option 2:
Will stop the noise, but appearance wise will be hard to hide.
From inside the bed, if crack is visible, get a metal backing plate (fabricate)
and install it so it is above and below the crack, drill and attach the plate on the inside, but the nuts and or rivets are going to be visible on the outside

If this is done with the bed unloaded, Tools etc, then the gap should be closed, the backing plate will secure the bed in a closed gap position and take the stress off of the factory bed crack point.

Option 3:
You may be able to loosen all the bed bolts and then resecure them, this will possibly reposition the bed and take the stress off of the crack point.

Just some thoughts on what to do, I have a strong feeling the bed attach bolts are lose and this caused the crack, more attention to the front mounting bolts.

I agree. The fix is to gain access thru the gas cap housing. It’s all removable and you have clear view of the problem. Or cut access hole inside the bed and patch cover with new spray bed liner. As far as the paint /crack repair on the exterior panel ???? Good luck. I’m not done going after Ford. I did not pay $$$$$$ and I purchased extended warranty , to start try to Mickey Mouse repair myself. Ridiculous Ford isn’t even entertaining a fix. The dealer took apart the fender well and basically told me good luck after they saw the amount of time and effort to repair. I’m going to park it outside the dealer with a big sign pointing to the crack and say….. Toyota is better !!!! And I hate Toyotas. Lol

These Ranger Raptors were built in South Africa. The standard Ranger was built in Argentina. We alll live in Baja were the roads are rough. Hence why we buy trucks with Ford enhanced Baja mode and factory suspensions and $$$ warranties. Ford just doesn’t build a tough truck anymore. Certaininly not the Raptor Ranger. I’m convinced it’s a marketing ploy , it’s a tin can

Do any Ford IT people read these threads ?
I think not. At least one F150 forum I've seen has an official Ford presence but for the orphan 5G community we are fending for ourselves.

Quality is non existent in Rangers
I just bought a 2019 XLT with 28,000 miles (clean carfax) and it has been nothing but issues so far. Blend doors, fuel pressure sensor in tank, rebuild the transmission and this week is a battery. This Ranger is a piece of shit! I just bought a plastic brown turd emogie for the dashboard. You couldn't give me another Ranger!

OP has a 6G Ranger.

https://www.ranger6g.com/forum/threads/bed-rattle-and-crack.8630/

6G Rangers are supposed to have J-braces installed if you plan to run a cap or a rack. The question is how many people (like presumably OP) are going to have no idea that they are required? It's stated nowhere in the owners manuals. The truck even comes with "Load Carrying" supplement that includes absolutely no information.

There will be many owners who run into this problem I bet. Especially with racks. Some folk on the 6G forum have mentioned that the cap manufacturers are including the brackets with their caps.

Exactly. Unaware buyers galore. And not to mention if you spend 40-85k on a ranger (Ranger raptor) you think they may include J braces to avoid the customer base bashing there trucks as weak. Japanese trucks are built stronger than Ford. Fact. Sad day for sure
