Yes I am aware, but to be blunt it doesn't register on my meter. I'm happy to live in this country, but I stop short of treating a flag with worship. Most of my co-workers would get angry quick at someone burning a flag, I on the other hand couldn't care less. Its a piece of cloth (or in most cases nylon).
I assumed that about you, and that’s a Shame…Shame on You….

And yet the world keeps turning.

Random factoid; the pledge of allegiance was a concoction of modern times.

The only oath that matters to me was the one I took when I was sworn in and is about my pledge to the community I serve, not an over-bloated government complex.

Don't mistake my words, I can respect an honor people who served under our flag, I will not however regard a piece of cloth as some omnipotent sky wizard. IMO that is usually the result of indoctrination on some level, some are worse than others.

I have 46 dead crew members who might disagree with your overall philosophy …

It’s unfortunate that you feel the way you do about our flag. But, it’s your right to feel the way you do even though I find it despicable. I did 8 deployments and had the blood of my brothers on my hands and saw them die for our flag. I could go on but I’d violate forum rules.

I was just being cheeky with my response. Most people who get upset about flag code are also die hard constitutionalist. What would happen if you confronted them about it being your 1A choice to display it that way? Would their head explode on the spot?

They didn't die for a flag, they died because they had a calling and did what they thought was right for our country. You take my stance on cloth as taking a stance on humans, a wildly outlandish and emotional response. I think some of you are missing the point, but it is something I am use to. Sorry you feel that way.

No offense, but this is what we refer to as a straw-man argument, or a logical fallacy. You are equating a whole bunch of things to nothing I said, did, or do.
Never wrestle with a pig. You always end up covered with mud and pig shit, and the pig, having nothing better to do, enjoys it.

However, I would never be in relationship with said individual, as I find it despicable. To me that’s one of the freedoms that America affords, and it’s a beautiful thing.
So I'm on the same page as you, I look at it like this, I have one simple rule I adhere to: Your freedom's end where my freedom's begin.

Translated: Do whatever the hell you want as long as it does not involuntarily impact or include me.

I always liked the more crude version (political correctness warning):

Even if you win a fight with a retard, you are still the guy who beat up a retard.

Was going to put a few muted American Flags on my truck right below the side vents. Was told by a neighbor that indicates former military (I'm not former mil, just patriotic) and that it would be "theft of honor."

Theft of Honor is definitely not my goal and neither is passing myself off as mil / ex-mil.

Is that really a thing? Only Military or Ex-Military should use the muted flag? I'm pretty sure it's covered by the first amendment but also not looking to ruffle any feathers - especially of those who served.
The flag is not a military branch insignia or rank showing you served.
The flag is a national logo. The military protects the flag's honor and has rules about how they handle it in uniform at parades etc, but does not control how civilians choose to use it or even burn it in protest, or hanging it upside down is free speech.
Stores make all types of clothing patterns and marketing items that are not associated with the military with the flag colors and are fine.
