I love this story because of the warm memories and carefree times of youth. I remember sitting on an open tailgate, hanging on to the tailgate support as we traveled 30 mph down the road with my feet occasionally touching the road.Back in 1976 my dad took us on a family vacation from Toronto to Nova Scotia and the Atlantic provinces. Us three kids ride in the box the whole way there and back but it had a topper so we didn't bounce out I guess LMAO.
That went so well we did Florida in a two-seater panel van a couple years later. We just held on to the milk crates we sat on. To be fair, there were a couple seatbelts in each vehicle, but just for the grown-ups I think?
Today that would probably be called child abuse, but I'm still here and those are some of my most cherished childhood memories.
