Really seems odd to have a manual key in 2021.
I have just added the Terrain Management button the other day and it got me thinking, Could I also add a push button start without much hassle?

I'm guessing it would also need new key fobs which are usually pricy, so I'm guessing this isnt going to be a case of adding a push button start module and some programming with FORScan, but it never hurts to ask.... (Unless you ask something that has been asked many times and you give me crap for it :) )

I was pretty disappointed in this too. A POS mid level EcoSport we had as a loaner had push button start, but our 2021 XLT truck does not. 2018 Mustang GT (non Premium) has it. I didn't even consider that it wouldn't when we ordered the XLT.

Lol! I despise the push button start. Been trying to adjust to it for six months now. I'll take a manual key all day long! But, that's just me.
I am exactly the opposite. Once I got used to not having to take my car keys out of my pocket and not having a bunch of keys hanging from the ignition jingling, I couldn't go back. Especially with the way this truck bounces and rocks back and forth over rough roads. It was one of the main reasons I got a Lariat, along with the upgraded audio system. I wanted a decent sounding system stock that I don't have to mess with upgrading.

Gonna chime in since I am wondering the same, got the idea to ask Ford if they could do it since the truck is in there for warranty work already.

Anyone get added information on this since the last post?

As far as I know, push button start has no real advantage over turn key ignition...
I prefer push-button start actually. The Ranger was a step backwards for me in that regard. I also miss walking up to it and being able to touch something on the door to unlock it. Life is too short to worry over that though.

Lots of head scratching and finger pointing the first time you get a "No Start" situation , i wouldn't trust anybody to add it and feel safe in the woods with it ...

I am a weird one. I prefer the key to the push button. Not sure why; never liked the idea of the push button. I also love the handle based ebrake. I also wouldn't be mad if the Ranger had a column shifter.... :-/

Good luck with the install. I think with a bit of trim stuff, parts, wiring, and FORscan it can happen.

With a column shifter your eyes are in synch with the shifter. You look at the dash while shifting. If the floor shifter had a working gear indicator I'd be fine with it, but it's sheer stupidity to put in a floor shifter without an indicator close by. Ford obviously robbed the parts bin when they put it together.

I also prefer the manual parking brake right where it is. eBrakes are just another complexity in an already overly complex truck. Many times less is more.
