I experienced a strange behavior today with adaptive cruise. It also happened earlier this year, but I wrote it off at the time thinking I was imagining things...

I was heading down the turnpike with adaptive cruise at 81. I noticed at some point that I seemed to be getting a little closer than I should be to the Nissan Pathfinder in front of me. The distance setting was max, which is four bars. Four bars of distance is noticeably far back. I kept watching, and it progressively kept getting closer to the Pathfinder, to a point where I was uncomfortable with letting it go any more. The cruise indicator did NOT show a vehicle ahead (truck icon at bottom, with four bars over it). I hit Cancel, then Resume, then magically the indicator showed the vehicle above the four bars, and the truck actively backed off with a bit of brake.

I'm thinking this is a software issue since a Cancel/Resume cleared it up. Unfortunately I don't know how to reproduce this, so trying to open this will a dealer service dept might be difficult.

Anyone experience anything like this?

Had the same issue a couple of times. Had a semi trailer, big object, in front and the truck just kept accelerating till I had to stomp the brakes to avoid hitting the trailer. Gotta be some software issue or a jamming issue. Maybe another vehicle with the same frequency?

Makes me feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one that's experienced this.

The fact I could hit Cancel then Resume and it responded immediately makes me think software...

I haven't had that particular problem, just mine quitting randomly while driving.

For a while if I was driving after midnight I would get a 'not available ' message.

Gremlins.

I had it happen twice. Both times the car color was beige in color or light gold. Not sure why.

Pretty much the whole section in the owners manual is littered with warnings and cautions and they all say the same thing....its a system that works, but not always.
They know its limitations with the radar box and have made you aware that you cant leave it unsupervised.

Does anyone who has this problem note any other changes to your vehicle? Such as lift kits, radar relocation mounts, aftermarket bumpers, winches, aux lighting? anything ?? Was it clear and dry? other weather?
If its just a random thing and can't be replicated with ease, then Fords caution notes are bang on the money.

Can someone have the balls to just let it go and see if the emergency braking still works? LOL

I have noticed while driving in rain it occasionally gets lost. but that is in standard southern sudden downpours. I just turn off cruise until I'm out. I'm at 68k, and its a trust but verify for me. All in all I still really like it. My wife's 21 explorer seems much smoother using adaptive - not sure of the difference.

75 degrees, clear and sunny. Clean truck, no mods.

I agree that anything automatic related to driving has to be supervised (and I was). It just strikes me as a software issue that is definitely a safety concern.

6G Raptor week 40, Wildtrak `22 2.0 diesel - sold
I had 5G Wildtrak Ranger, it had all bells and whistles. When I sold it I warned new owner she will start to give more errors related to auto systems and sensors when autumn arrives, the truck is fine and this is normal, no actual issues.
My 6G Raptor gives me daily 3 different type of sensors related errors, one of them is demanding me to put my hands back on steering wheel. ?
