the reason mold is suspect is because decaying matter can give off the vinegar smell.

Just google "why does my a/c smell like vinegar" and you wont be disappointed wondering why any longer.
I did. Well I didn't have this before they changed my heater box and blender door. So it's been in once 2 more times....lemon law?

then i would question if they got the drain line correct.
that would prevent the drainage, allow water to pool and the mold and bacteria to form.
all this talk about the silicone is sending you in an unlikely direction.
there's much more likelihood you've got drainage issues, not curing silicone at this time frame.
True, they did say they didn't see any water but if it comes back dashboard removal which is what is scheduled for the middle of the month....ugh

From someone who has used automotive HVAC for several decades: turn off the compressor for a minute or two before parking and turning Ranger off for the day. Helps blow the humid air from the evap housing. I do this as I turn the corner into my neighborhood....

So she went in, they called Ford engineering and when they originally changed the blender door and heater box....they didn't change the bottom 2nd part of the heater box which contains the evaporator coil etc ...so now in a week they will replace that and it should do the trick. No sign of mold in ducts.....so again I wait....

UPDATE.....so she finally got worked on. Changed out the box under the heater box which contains the evaporator. When they pulled it out heard some slushing in there. Replaced it, refilled ac refrigerant . Put back together. Still no sign of mold in ducts or on cabin filter. It has.been fine with no more smell.
