As I get older and more busy with life, I find that I pay for some things I used to do myself. Detailing my cars is one of them.
I use the same detailer for all my vehicles and have for a few years. The truck is with him right now for correction and ceramic coating. My other vehicles required 2-3 days for the first time through and that was the plan for the Ranger. Turns out it's not the case; here's the message I got from him -
"Hey John, still getting the truck decontaminated, truck has a lot of contamination, my assumption is sitting for months before heading to dealership/transport. Going to begin paint correction/enhancement on the paint as soon as I get all contamination off the surface. My goal is to have it finished by next Sunday."
Granted, a portion of the length of time is because he's got other appointments he scheduled so he's working on the truck around those since he wasn't able to get it completed in the 2 days we planned on. But he said it's the worst contamination on a new vehicle he's ever seen. He says it's not a thickness issue - scope matches the same (increasingly thinner) paint thickness of all the other new vehicles he sees. His guess is the length of time just baking in the sun in an industrial park.
Now I really can't wait to get it back and see the difference.
