This video popped (or should I say pooped up @veedubtuner? 😆) on my feed about the 10R80 transmission. Funny because everything he says to do is what we all here have figured out on our own. While reading through the comments I found one odd comment on how to reset the adaptive learning for the transmission. It does sound strange and way too easy to be true but hey it's the internet so it must be true.

Anyone else ever heard of this or is it BS?

It depends on what you're trying to solve. If you are trying to fix the gear hunting, you just need to swap out the EGR sensor. If you want to reset the adaptive learning, you can try this.. While in park, turn the truck on without starting it and hold the gas pedal down for 10 full seconds before turning it off. Once off, hold the pedal down again for 10 more seconds. Once you've completed these steps, take the truck out for a spirited drive. This will reset the adaptive learning and you should see an immediate change in the trucks personality.

Dunno, but Im always leery of those type of videos on UYT.
His recommendations are correct and I guess by looking at his past videos he's pretty legit and has almost 5,000 subs.

It was in the comments I found that "trick" to reset the adaptive learning that sounds fishy to me.

I feel like this forum got scraped for most of that AI generated video. There is nothing I disagree with there and whomever published the vid was careful not to trash Ford or point out manufacturing shortcuts.

No mention of checking fluid levels, just changing the fluid.

Other videos I've seen advocate turning off adaptive 'learning' and the favored tuners mentioned on 5G.com modify the shifting to correct for some of the Ford programming that we can suspect is designed to satisfy the EPA.

You're right it seems like most of these new YouTubers are using AI more just to put out as many videos as they can. His channel is relatively new (7 months) and already has 124 videos and they get monetized after so many hits/likes. Sadly, AI is going to ruin everything and I'm hoping it's just a fad and dies out but it doesn't look that way. I guess I was more curious about the comment than anything as I've never heard of that before.

Well, try it. What could possibly go wrong?

What I don't get, is what does holding the pedal down when the truck is off do? Isn't power off to most of the electrical stuff?

I use the app to turn on the car as I make coffee.. it is just about 60 second walk in the bitter cold winter here in AZ for the RPM to drop as I get to the door.

I alternate between tow and locking out 9/10, tho I have not tried sport mode. I will have to add that to my repertoire.

So far I have done the pan drop at 30/60. Installed a new filter and PPE pan with a drain plug and temp sender at 90.

Every time I hit the road for a long trip I reset the trans memory.

Hope to get 250k out of her like my Mountaineer(320k)

How are you resetting the trans memory?

I give the cold start and more frequent fluid changes some credence. By the time I start the truck, get strapped in and turn off auto start/stop I never have an issue with a hard P-R shift to back out of the garage. By the time I creep down our 30' driveway I have at least a minute on the clock.
I learned to drive on three pedal vehicles, so a rolling R-F shift never became a habit. ...I take care of my clutches.
Lugging has never been an issue, even towing a 4K# boat. The 10 speed is as close to a CVT as you'll get. The PCM finds the perfect gear for most conditions. I climb a 1/4 mi 6% grade when leaving our river house. I can feel a lug downshift coming on, so I tickle the accelerator a bit to force it. When towing up this hill I use the S or tow mode to keep the rpms up. I don't tinker with trans memory or other factory set parameters. Maybe I have too much faith in the Ford engineers, but I'm pretty sure they're smarter than me.
