Hey all, I purchased the upgrade kit and installed it in my 2019 Ranger. I'm very happy so far, but have some minor issues that the folks at the company have not given me an answer to, or at least one I can understand.

1 I do not have a climate control icon on the screen. I can only use the buttons on the bezel but blind to temperature and cannot easily chose other climate modes.

2 I'm using apple car play but for some reason I have to install the phone every single time if I want to use the phone without the apple car play feature. Even with apple CP it has to automatically configure itself every time I connect it. Asks me about the 911 feature etc.

3 I received from them a GPS antenna connector that I did not use as I already have the one from the vehicle, they state it is needed for the compass and the time to work properly. My compass is working and the time was already set, although I had to manually adjust for daylight savings.

I received a USB with some general instructions, a USB/OBD cable etc. Also links to Forscan with what appears to be access to a lic download. I checked the version and it was already the latest version.

Has anyone else purchased this kit and have they figured out the items above? I'm clueless when it comes to software, programing and the such.

Thanks!

I have the 8 in screen from factory but below may help.

Watch this install video as a ref, you may need to use Forscan and perform a FCIM & APIM self-test, to get it to register that the new screen is installed, plus look for anything under New Module Initialization (In Forscan) I do not know for sure if the FCIM or APIM would be included in that run procedure.

I would also find and clear any and all fault codes - if present

I believe they (Intellegent1tech) can log in remotely and get it programmed if needed via Forscan.

Did the company ask for VIN before your purchase?

Hi, yes that's the video I used where they said the GPS antenna was included. Great help on getting all the panels removed and the mechanical aspect of it. I will got to the forscan page and tr and find a download that might help. But where I got the kit, they simply said the climate screen button will simply not be available. A bit odd, but maybe they're right. Also communication with them is rough as they are I believe on China and the time zone does not help either. Yes, they programmed it using my VIN when purchased. Thank you!

Long time since I've posted, but looking for some help.

I upgraded in early 2022 to the 8" screen via the same vendor. Took 45 min to install but worked flawlessly (and has ever since). For the past 3 months, I started getting notices about the rear seatbelt restraint (passenger side) being a service issue. It was intermittent; would happen for 1-2 days then go away, then come back. Got to be a regular thing so I scheduled a dealer visit on Sat Feb 10. Took the truck in, they determined a sensor/harness needed replacement; agreed to order the part and bring it back 3 days later for the service. They needed 20 min to reassemble the back seat, then I'd be good to go.

20 min became 45. At 45 min, was told they were clearing codes in my Sync, and I'd be ready to go within the hour.
The hour became 90 minutes. Could not communicate with the Sync, was having a senior tech come over to work on it.
Arrived at 9AM; 3:30, they walk me to the floor and show me that the screen showed "error - sync communication". Their best Ford Sync guy was off Saturday, he'd be back Monday and he'd look at it. Got me a loaner, told me they'd get it taken care of and do the harness. Call me Tuesday.

Tuesday - got the call that they did the part replacement, still issues with sync. Comms issues, not sure why they can't get it to re-program. Getting a flash file from Ford, still working on it.
Thursday - Ford Electronics recommended they order a new Sync module. As of 1PM EST module was ordered.
Nothing on Friday or Saturday, last weekend.
Monday - new sync due in late Monday, will get it installed/programmed for Tuesday.
Tuesday - installed, still no comms. Working on it.
Wednesday (today) - got a call asking about the sync screen, if it was original to the truck. I said no; I upgraded it March 2022 but it was flashed based on my VIN, Ford Sync worked AND it worked/communicated with my FordPass app. Service advisor told me that was impossible. I told him I have a screenshot showing the initial Saturday service visit where it was recording the other faults they were finding (including a power loss, factory reset and loss of comms).

I am really starting to worry/get angry that they're gonna try and saddle me with extra expense on this. Anyone with any history on these things, if you've encountered the same, etc.....please share. I'm not computer savvy enough to know if I am being told the truth or if they're using the aftermarket change to cover for a tech's mistake. Thanks.

I’m thinking you could get hit with some expense since you modified the system. Most likely, Ford will only support the factory configuration from a warranty perspective. It is possible that if they had to flash anything with factory files/settings, it got the original 4” setup which is not compatible with the Sync3 hardware/modifications. You may need to contact your Sync3 vendor for assistance.

Picked up my truck yesterday. They agreed to cover a portion of the new Sync module and some labor. I was happy to pay the reduced amount since they also covered a rental car for nearly 2 weeks. Out the door for the new Sync, the rear seat belt restraint fix for $1,300.00

I did lose the navigation and climate control options on the larger touchscreen; I have a compass now instead of the map (but to be honest, I use Waze so the maps not a huge loss). The climate control on screen was cool, but everything on the panel below the screen works fine. Re-connected my phone via BT, and reconnected by FordPass app after getting home and connecting to my Wi Fi.

I would still do the upgrade because the larger screen is very nice, but as a previous poster said.....be careful.
