Shit. I seriously never considered that. I wouldn't be stupid enough to spray it anywhere near an open flame, but figured it would be safe once it flashed off and was polished off the surface. I mean, our vehicles aren't all driving around flammable are they? Certainly didn't explode when using the stove. I'll get some IPA and remove it then, not worth the risk.
Graphene oxide itself has an extremely high temperature threshold - like 2200-3500 degrees Fahrenheit. The issue is in the quick detailers. They contain very little actual graphene oxide (graphene costs around $8 a gram if you're buying it in manufacturing quantities); the detailers contain varying amounts of it but none contain a significant amount. The coating products like Ethos contain more. The detailers mostly consist of petroleum distillates, which are flammable as vapor and liquid, depending on the concentration and where the fume smell comes from. 303 MSDS lists their mix as a moderate risk.

Edit - 303 uses petroleum in the nano coating but isopropyl alcohol is the main ingredient after water in the detailer. According to their ingredient disclosure, the main surface coating ingredient in the detailer is silicone in the form of Polydimethylsiloxane, which explains the nice shiny, slippery finish it leaves.

I was thinking more the open flame (pilot light is always lit) and the fumes. Seeing as nothing happened I'd say you're good but that's an area I'd be very careful of, once dry there's no problem.

When I use to use Optimum products I had the main guy there tell me he used their Opti-Seal on his Stainless BBQ grill as it would bead the water up and not leave water spots. I still have a bottle of that and use it all around the house, mostly on my shower glass and bath mirrors and I also tried it on the BBQ . That I let sit for a day or two just to make sure it was cured. It was probably overkill but I felt better waiting.

Also did the stove top. Time will tell if this was a good or a dumb idea lol, but I’m over cleaning it.

Nice job! Kinda reminds me of when I bought my Flex DA years ago over the winter. I spent days practicing with products and pads on my white enamel fridge :)

I fired it the hell up! Best way to test.

Seriously though, I sent the MDS on the product to a very senior, retired, former Fire & Rescue member. He confirmed that I was right, actually laughing at me, that the carriers were about the only thing to worry about.

Stove has no pilot light, only lights if you turn it on. I wiped it on, let it flash off and then polished off, leaving overnight before trying. If the coating itself was a problem, it would never be allowed to be used on cars, so no stress.

Spillages wipe off easy on coated stainless but, so I'm not complaining either. You could do everything but the kitchen sink.. or could you?

Also did two coats on the truck after claying, before the next round of apocalyptic rain hits (tomorrow). I would have assumed claying would remove the previous coating, but oddly, it didn't seem to.

Hardly worth photographing these days, but its the shiniest it's ever been. It actually looks abnormal next to other cars in a carpark, it's that glossy. I don't think I've seen a car outside of a car show (under lights) with this much shine. And it's white.

But as usual, can't photograph it well enough with a phone to do it justice, so that's the best I could do.

Will I keep using it? I don't know. It didn't seem to help with all the tar and crap that was stuck on the car, so I may try something different next time. See what happens.

I jumped on the 303 bandwagon. Clayed both my Ranger and my gf's Honda and followed it up with 3 coats of 303 and they look/feel amazing. Curious to see how well it holds up but first impressions are very positive.

If this were only 25 years ago I would sent this lyric over to Weird Al to make a song out of it. ?:giggle:

Why is it I always notice the time it's 3:03? Is this a sign Dave?

Should I wait a bit before I use the 303 protectant on the dash, etc? I've had the truck about a month, and the wife just got a new hyundai last week. Wasn't sure if they needed to off gas for a while before I start applying.

No you can use it right away. Just spray on a small amount and wipe it on. If you add to much and it looks or feels greasy buff it out with a clean microfiber towel. I did my Jeep the day I got it.
