There was one at a dealership near me. I stopped to check it out since it was the first one I saw. It was on 35's an they marked it up $5K. I couldn't read the added sticker next to the window sticker through the dark glass so they may have added anti theft or or rust proofing or something to help justify the added $5K.

IMO... They couldn't have picked a worse combination of Lift/Tires/Wheels to try to jack up the price on it. Not only does it look horrible, it is not functional. Saw a dealer down here do something similar added $2k worth and jacked price 10k
I had never seen anything like this until I started taking contracts in the southeast. Entire dealer lots of brand new trucks with cheapo lift kits, glossy 22" wheels wrapped with low profile tires, and $10,000 in markup with a cheesy "Country Edition" chrome badge for all the pretend farm boys to cruise in.

But, but, but..... I Got One FIRST!!!!

Anyone who pays over MSRP for a vehicle that is currently in production is lacking in either financial sense or financial concern.

It's not like they won't build another one.
Sounds good but if you need transportation today you may not be in the position to wait.

A single car family that has their car totaled in an accident (no at fault) is screw today. They will have to get something now at stupid prices.

My 2021 lariat FX4 is 2 weeks at the dealer with no ETA on replacing the defective axle. I have owned it for four months, I just got the title.

I hope it does not go to lemon law because there are no supply of replacement (trucks, jeeps , etc).

I don't know Dennis. I have one on order, and I'm beginning to wonder if they will build anymore. With all of the supply chain problems, quality problems with the hard tops from the supplier Webasto, and the dang chip shortage I'm beginning to wonder. I know somewhere long the line all of this crap will go away. It's just hard to tell when.

OP, I've seen higher mark-ups that 23K, and the dealer sold them. Some people just have to have the latest and greatest, damn the expense. Heck, I knew going in I wasn't even going to pay sticker for a Bronco. Luckily I found a dealer in Iowa selling them for 2K under invoice. The only drawback there is a lot more folks jumped on that bandwagon, and that put me at #774 out of a 1000+ reservations. Thankfully I'm in no hurry as I have a Jeep that fills in nicely until my turn comes around.

I have always shunned dealers who do this sort of thing. It reminds me of the old 1950s dealer tactic where five salesmen descend on you at once! Just go someplace else!

I don’t know, where I come from they are all still in that 1950’s mode. Every single new car dealer I have visited in the last 20 years in three different states.

I got ripped off on that so-called market adjustment for $3500 from the local Mazda dealer. When I asked what the hell was that, and their response was because the car was made in Hiroshima. I didn't do my homework on that car which is rare for me and I got taken. Market adjustment is nothing more than a dealership mark up. I found that out after I priced around and could've save myself at $3500 from other dealers 50 miles away.
