So I took my dog out last night. I was not carrying my keys. And as I walked past the truck I heard that noise of the electrical click as if you were unlocking the door. I'm sure you know that little sound it makes like something flipping on in the engine somewhere.

Also the locked door indicator light was orange on the door handle. I waited for a bit to see if something would happen again and the orange light turned off. What the heck happened?

Ford pass app maybe stays connected or sends your location and preps the truck for a ride?

Well since you did not have your keys on you (The FOB) you have eliminated 1/3 of the possibilities of this phenomena, as I have noted this communication wake up while working in the garage with both phone and FOB in my pockets.
I have been questioning this event and what causes it, so you have eliminated one of the options.
So, that leaves 2 options now.
I have been tempted to put up a camera to watch the truck overnight for a few weeks to see if I notice any flashes of lights (park lights) etc

Did you have your phone on you with Ford Pass app?

Option 1:
If yes, then this may be Ford Pass assuming you will be entering the truck, thus a wake up prep
or Option 2 and you just happened to be next to truck when it happened.

Option 2:
If no, then we have determined it is the Ford Pass app, performing a communication, check in and update on health, tire press, millage etc.

Ok so it literally happened again. I did have my phone with me this time, but pretty sure last night i did not.

Again I took dog out with me, and when I walked back past truck I heard a faint click and noticed the yellow lock lights were on.

I will go out tonight with my phone and without and see. Whats odd is I do this almost every night and never noticed it before!

Edit; i just opened my Ford Pass app and I'm not even logged in anymore.

Truck is either jealous of dog or wants to take dog for a ride.

I just went to my tuck with my phone in hand. Nothing happened. I opened Ford Pass app. Guess what happened, nothing. Conclusion: it's the dog.

The only thing that makes sense is the Bluetooth connection- Phone to Truck, however since the Ford Pass was not active, the truck may sense that the phone is nearby and trying to connect via Bluetooth instead of cellular via app, the app on the truck is looking for a communication update to the app on the phone. (Just a guess here)
Might try before resetting app on the phone, turn off Bluetooth and see if that stops it, process of elimination.
Then try reconnecting the app to truck and see if that stops it, if turning off Bluetooth does not help.

Does the dog have any micro-chip implanted or tracker on dog collar? might be triggering the truck frequency, I can't remember the MHZ the FOB uses off hand, it would be really funny if the dog is actually causing it.

Mine has exhibited the same behavior when my wife walks out to get in the mustang to leave for work. My truck uses a key not a fob. Never have been able to figure out the source as her phone isn't connected to my truck. We took her key out of her purse and it still happens occasionally. It is possessed.?
