I just picked this truck up from a used dealership with 85k miles on it.

After putting around 200 miles on it, the engine light came on... sigh

Codes read:

P0141: O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 2
P2096: Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 1

Dealer's shop closes on weekends so I wanted to do a little troubleshooting myself, if I can. Unfortunately I am having trouble finding repair manuals to locate things. I did locate fuse #8 for the oxygen sensors so far.

Any advice?

Sounds like your downstream O2 sensor (the one behind the catalytic converter) might be bad. You can test the heater circuit of the sensor with a multimeter.

That sounds about right. I just need to locate the harness first. Thanks

Here is some info from the shop manual. It would be the lower O2 sensor heater circuit on the diagram. I think the other DTC is related to the O2 sensor heater problem, so concentrate on the heater wiring and sensor heater might be open. I would check the heater with an ohmmeter to see if it is open.

The heater resistance should be less than 5 ohms at the O2 sensor. Voltage to the heater should be greater than 10.5 volts with the key on.

Quick and Simple checks, without having to pull the PCM Connector C175E.

Connector Disconnected: Downstream O2 - HO2S12

Key On - Pin #2 to Grd = Batt Voltage

Key Off:
Pin #1 to Grd
Pin #1 to Pin #2
Pin #1 to Pin #3
Pin #1 to Pin #4
All Measurments above should be >10,000 Ohms or 10 Kilo Ohms

O2 Sensor (Component side)
Pin #1 to Pin #2 - should read (2-30) Ohms
EDIT: I suspect the above is out of range, tripping the code

O2 Sensor (Component side)
Pin #1 to Grd
Pin #1 to Pin #3
Both should read > than 10,000 ohms or 10 Kilo Ohms
