This feels very...odd. I'm not saying you're wrong, but also it just doesn't really pass the smell test.
Hey Mr. Know it all. Go ask your ford dealer. I did. Multiple confirmed. I didnt come here to argue with people, just share what i know.

I'm not here to argue either, it just doesn't feel right. I'd love to see some information about it, seems like a massive issue that should be covered and fixed by Ford if it exists.

Under settings on the left dash screen. you have to turn it off everytime you start the truck. I turn it off in all fords and it makes a difference. I had a 2017 ford explorer sport that chewed the rear brakes in 20,000kms because of the trailer sway system. was only towing for 1000km of that.. turn it off everytime, mileage increased in all cars.
Based on Ford's description of the trailer sway control system, your issue with brakes should not have happened. You sure the system was operating correctly on that Explorer?

Yes.
If the rear end doesnt track perfectly straight due to slight side wind etc it applies rear brakes to compensate. Ask ford. To the guy arguing previously. Go sue ford for a feature that does actually save peoples ass. Only if it gets really bad does it warn you on the dash.

Woah, not sure what the hostility is about. I'm simply asking a question.

In other places I can find information says it's very hit/miss, and if it *is* causing a problem, that there's a computer issue, not a system design issue.

I'm open minded and happy to be informed if I'm off-base, as I'm sure others would too.

Seems like if it was this sensitive, there would be quite a few Ford owners from the past few years who would be pretty pissed about how frequently they replace their brake pads. On the other hand, if this is just a sporadic issue, it may explain why some people on this forum can't seem to get anywhere near advertised MPGs no matter how hard they try.
Ask ford.
I'll try to remember to ask at my dealership next time I'm there, although I do wish I had someone more knowledgeable than a dealer to inquire with. (Maybe Phil knows something about this system?)

Ditto.

Staying off boost is the key for better mpg. I'm able to get a best of 22+ on highway and 19+ city if I watch my foot. Forgetting mpg and just driving normally, my city goes down to 17-18, 19-20 highway.

BTW, I'm able to monitor the boost condition (among other info) through my ipad/OBD gauge setup...

Are you able to pull the PIDs for the IAT values? I use Torque and the PID I had for my mustang doesn't appear to be the same one for the Ranger.

IAT is displayed upper right gauge...you have to use their lame layout or create custom as I did:)

Right, I had to use a custom PID setting for the IAT for Torque for the mustang. I'm used to building my own layouts though, because the "stock" torque stuff isn't great.

On my next trip to North Texas, I'll turn off trailer sway control and see if I can get 30 mpg (last trip was 26mpg)

That wont matter cause then you dont know how the reportee figured the mileage. Or exactly where, when, and how the truck was driven. Most of the time it is just a WAG or a LIE. And dont ask the EPA. LOL:giggle:
