My truck will get lowered, and ride on it's current wheel/tire combo, and stay on paved or gravel roads....not a lot of mountains or off-road parks/trails in Iowa. I'm doing it because I like the way it handles. Yes, mine is 4x4, but I rarely go "off-road", and I don't live out west where a higher clearance is often needed, even on forest service roads. I wanted the 4x4 for winter driving and the occasional farm/field driveway that might require it.

I remember in one post from a while back where someone said something about "lowering the truck and pushing it to it's unintended limits".....I chuckled to myself, and kept thinking "you're going to lift it, put big, heavy wheels and tires (with no brake upgrade), and go banging and slamming around rocks and boulders that weigh waaaay more than your truck....and I'M "pushing it BEYOND it's limits ?!?!?" Give me a break !!!

I'll do whatever I want to with my truck and you can do whatever you want to with your truck and we'll both be happy :like:
Very well said. Valid points and I respect that. Also, on a seprate note.. I lived in Iowa for about a year (my mom grew up in Maquoketa and we moved there when I graduated high school). Gotta say... It's pretty darn flat out there. Don't miss the snow though...lol

I went back an forth on this too, but ultimately got the 17's. Couple reasons. It's a smaller truck. I think it looks a little more proportioned with 17 (more rubber). If it was full size with 35's or 37's then I would definitely go 20's. 17's are also cheaper (wheel and tire). And as mentioned, a bit more forgiving ride. I like low profile rubber, don't get me wrong, but it has it's place. I have 19's on the mustang, but they are also 285 and 325 wide. They only have one job and that is sticking like glue on dry pavement. And they do ride stiff too with a short sidewall.

Man I have been real tempted here recently.

I can get 20" RTR Tech 6's with 285/55/20 Autturo AT's for a decent deal right now. This combo will keep me at right the same tire height as I have now, just a little less side-wall. I never plan to off-road where airing down is required.

Dang I'm so torn... hmmm..

Even if you are not planning to air down you can still have better ride quality and less chance of damaging the wheel and tire with a 17 vs a 20 inch wheel.

but if you want to corner at high speeds and be sure that the truck will flip over before the tires lose grip, low profile is without a doubt the way to go

And if you pay attention the OP has the obvious intent to go offroad with his truck vs hit the corners at 200 MPH

I can't personally think of any reason to drive in such a way that I need to flip the truck to test the limits of the tires, but there must be some market for those fugly wheels

Is there a certain place running a special? Or do you know someone selling a set off their truck?

Have you considered spinners? I'd go with the McDonald's logo and 26" spinners.
I laughed. But seriously, I keep looking at photos of the available NZ RTR package and the wheels look so good in that size. Another photo with 285/55 tires.

Nothing out of this world, but BB Wheels I can get those two items packaged at $1,600.
