I have a chance to buy brand new take off 18-inch High-Gloss Black-Painted Wheels (from the black appearance package) and tires for my FX4 with the 17" silver wheels. Tires are the same Hankook ATMs but 265/60-18 vs 265/65-17. Anyone have insights? Tire rack specs state the 18 are 0.7" narrower tread width and 0.5" smaller diameter. I have 22K on my 17" and no issues with the ATMs, so would be upgrading for looks and newer tires. $900 installed with sensors. Seems like a good deal?

I would think you could get takeoffs for quite a bit cheaper than 900 bones.

I was only able to get $300 for the tires that came off my 18" black package wheels that were practically new. I think I saw a set of the 18s in the classifieds for $300 too.

Offer less and see what they say. As takeoffs they really are " shit laying around " that we can get SOME money for.

That being said they do look nice on the truck and a 265/70/18 slides right on there for a nice no rub upgrade.

I have been looking at putting taller tires on mine as well. Was looking at 265/65 18 but if the 265/70 18's will work without any mods, I would rather go that route.

Those numbers are off from Tire rack.

265/65-17 vs 265/60-18

The tread will be the same on both tires (that's the 265 part, measured in mm).

The 18 is 0.1 inch smaller diameter.

They are so close, you could use one as a full size spare. No problem switching between the two sets, you will have no noticeable difference at all.

If you are not going to go bigger with the tire size i would suggest not doing so. I figure the reason you have the FX4 package is to help you woth OffRoad as needed. Well when it comes to Offroad itnis in your best intrest to have as much sidewall as possible. You may think that the 1 inch wont make a difference but it will. I still have the factory 17 inch wheels and I'm running 285/70-17's and before I was on 265/70-17's and the ride quality between the two was huge!! To give you an idea i went from 32 to 33 inch tires. Again not much but enough of a difference. The same effect plays with wheels.

Thanks, I decided it wasn't worth it. Eventually I want to get better tires and 17"are cheaper and more available. I don't go off road enough to justify bigger tires anyway. Those cheap black eBay hub caps still look good covering up the silver too.

I prefer the looks and size of the 17" magnetics. I'd spend that $900 on new rubber for them.

Edit: Just saw you had the 17" silver instead if magnetic. But my opinion stands. New rubber on existing wheels.
