I am having my transmission replaced in my 2020 Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 by the dealer in the Philippines. Just wondering how to read the codes on the stickers (1st and 4th pics) to know what I'm getting as far as date of manufacture.

Had some harsh shifting over the years, and had the ECM/TCM reset done. No DTCs noted. Had ATF and filter changed in 2023 about a month before warranty expired. It was brown.

A month ago, I heard a metal "clink", then got an error that the transmission was overheating. Pulled over as the transmission no longer engaged. Mechanic dropped and disassembled the transmission to see obvious damage (other 3 pics).

Sorry to hear about that. No idea on the manufacture codes those. I had one break on me almost 20k ago. Ford helped outside of warranty just not all of it.

I wish the mechanic could punpoint what actually caused it. They seem to think the oil cooler malfunctions and causes the tranny to overheat, which then causes the damage. I'm not convinced.

They said my vehicle VIN was not defined in the TSBs which pointed to CDF Drum issues (22-2428, 23-2250), and the CDF Drum looked ok as you can see in the pic. This is why I opted for a new tranny vice a rebuild, not to mention a rebuild would have been around the same price.

I believe the 22221 is the date code and it would be January 22nd 2022. I base that off the tag that was on my replacement transmission that was installed in my truck on June 25 2024. My code is 24156 which would be June 15 2024. But this is pure speculation as my original transmission had a code of 22059 and my truck was built in March of 2022

I tried using this (Transmission) Placard and it provided (0) Help, anyways it does not matter as far as the TSB (Build Date) guidelines.
As the Transmission was prior built before assembly.
The TSB is for (Truck) Build date which you can get from your window sticker and the door jamb placard.

This was very important to me - as my build date = 8/16/22
and the CDF Drum Replacement (Direction) Path uses build date (On) or (Before) 8/15/22
I went through great lengths to verify I had the updated CDF Drum in my transmission using the data plate off of the transmission (Multiple) sources (No Luck), so I only have what the TSB Guidelines have and that is 8/16/22 and onward has the updated CDF drum.
and my Transmission has a build date of 6/20/22, so this means that as of June of 2022, Ford was already implementing the new CDF Drum into the transmissions and 8/16/22 began the installation of the newer transmission into the trucks as they rolled down the line.

For Ref: anytime the Valve Body is replaced the dealer must install a newer placard for the Solenoid Strategy

Thanks. That's helpful.

Update from my original post...
The new transmission had a leak at the connection to the motor, so ATF is getting past the gasket behind the torque converter. Ford is ordering me yet another whole transmission assembly.

My concern with the date on the assembly is that it seems to have been built on 22 January, 2022. This is prior to the CDF TSBs, so I assume it doesn't include the newer CDF Drum.

Waiting now for the 2nd new transmission. Hoping it is 2023 or later.

The date codes may be (a derivative of) the Julian date...

Year followed by the number of days, the 156th day of 2024, and the 59th day of 2022. Julian dates are commonly used on computer software. You see the the DDMMYY, but the computer sees and manipulates the Julian date.

Julian Date for 24156 is 04-June-2024
Julian Date for 22059 is 28-Feb-2022

That makes sense as all the date codes I’ve seen have been 5 digits. They also align with the time frames of my original and replacement transmissions. Good catch!

So, with that then my Transmission Build Date is: 22206 = July 25th, 2022, and Official Truck Build Date = Aug 16th, 2022 (So I am still assuming and hopeful) that the truck build date holds true for the CDF Drum and my Transmission has the updated drum installed.
So at least we know that in July of 2022 they were getting the new version transmissions ready for the Line (change)

Good info to know. Especially for those looking to buy a used transmission with no access to donor VIN for their out of warranty Ranger.

This seems right. New transmission ordered in January, and the code is 24340= 06-Dec-2024
