  1. OEM ford mudflaps

I installed the OEM mud flaps on my truck. The instructions are clear and the install is easy. You do have to drill, but it's just into the plastic fender "flares" and you can't screw up the holes because the clips hold the mudflap in the correct position for drilling.
  2. Yakima Roof Rack on a Supercab

I couldn't a single picture of this install on the web, so I'm fixing that. We sold the car that we normally used the rack on, so I picked up a fit kit for the Supercab. It fits fine. The antenna might need to be removed if I run my roofbox up there. I'll update with a picture if I ever put it...
  3. Manual vs Automatic Transmission

If a manual had been an option, I'd be driving one. This is my first vehicle with an automatic, and while I do think it does a good job, I miss shifting. The trucks that did offer manuals when I was shopping, otherwise didn't offer what I was looking for (RWD, not total gas hogs). I have no...
  4. oil leaks & trailer brake system errors recalls

Here's the first line of the article. "Ford has issued two recalls for over 737,000 vehicles to fix issues with oil leaks and trailer breaking systems, according to the Associated Press" I added the emphasis. Nice proof reading....... I guess I'm happy that no software is involved with the...
  5. Tail of the Dragon

I've driven this one in a super slow 98 Honda Civic and the Tail of The Dragon in a not much faster 2005 Ford Focus! I used to have family in Prescott and went Whitewater rafting in NC.
  6. Well, Ill be damned... 10R80

Might be a different gripe than many, but my biggest complaint is the behavior when I pass someone on a regular 2 lane highway. I'll give full throttle, get around them, and then it stays in a low gear forever longer than I want it to. I figure it's thinking I might need the lower gear again...
  7. My New Ranger getting Repo'd !

I live in Kentucky, but bought a car in Georgia once. They had to collect the taxes because I financed the car (even though I didn't put the tax amount in my loan.) The dealer sent me a check with the registration made out to the County Clerk where I needed to register the car in Kentucky...
  8. auto up/down on all 4 doors

I used one on the passenger door of my Super Cab They install easily and make the door do what you want from both the driver switch and the door where it's installed. The only caveat is that there is no pinch protection for those windows. I'm cool with that on the passenger window up front...
  9. Second choice

I only considered a Tacoma mainly because I've always driven manuals. However, a Tacoma with a manual has to be a TRD model with lots of things I don't need (minority here but 4 wheel drive) and the average economy was like 17. I looked at a few used manual Colorados, but they would have been...
  10. Aftermarket trailer hitch for new ranger owner

Here's a pic of my Draw Tite.
  11. A Volkswagen I Might Actually Consider Buying?

Maybe the TDIs are more reliable. I've only had one CEL in the 7 years we've had our 2015 Passat (leaking DEF injector) and the other 2 TDIs I had were problem free. I made money off the first one due to Dieselgate and used it to buy the second, which I only sold because I needed a truck. We...
  12. Are You and “In” or “Out” Guy…?

My Ranger fits in my side of the garage, but just barely. It only goes in if I know a bad storm is on the way.
  13. Is there a new V6 model?

I had a 2007 Rabbit with a 2.5L 5 banger. Power was fine, but the motor mounts were purposely looser to hide some of the vibrations. If you really got into it and didn't time the shift between 1st and second right, the whole drivetrain would swing back with a noticeable "thunk" when you shifted...
  14. Rangers in SNOW

No weight. If we had much more snow than we got today, I'd just stay home. It seldom hangs around long enough to stay a problem around here. I'd like some wet snow for a change. The last several years we've only gotten the fluffy dry stuff. Even with 5 inches, you can't make a snow man out of...
  15. Rangers in SNOW

My 4x2 did pretty well in the snow today. We had about 1 1/2" of snow last night. A Tahoe parked two spots from me at Wal-Mart could barely back out of its spot--Spinning everywhere. I was worried I might slip a bit too, but I idled right out with no slip at all.
  16. Wire gauge needed for trailer brake connection from 4 wires to controller

The instructions for my Redarc show the black and blue as 3.0mm², which is roughly 12g, and the white and red as 1.25mm², which is roughly 16g. I'm not sure if upsizing the 16g would be a problem, but I bet there's an electrical guru on here who does know.
  17. Rangers in SNOW

Snowy in Central Kentucky today. My 2wd Ranger's gonna stay in the driveway.
  18. School me on window tint.

+1 on ceramic tint. Go with a shop that's been around a while and guarantees their work. A guarantee doesn't mean much if the shop goes out of business. I had my fronts tinted to legal in KY (35%) and it matches the back perfectly.
  19. What’s your favourite (non-tailgate damper) mod you’ve done, for under $100?

Mine were $85 for just the fronts. Solar Guard Ceramic.
