  1. You can't tow a Bobcat with a Ranger!

I definitely want to pass on this kinda teachable moment. Sounds utterly terrifying. I put brakes on my small trailers. It wasn't hard or expensive to do and I'd rather the truck's brakes not have to do any extra work at all. I haven't rented any "large" equipment to pull with my Ranger, but...
  2. Seat Belt / Headrest Recall

You couldn't remove the headrests on a 2021 SuperCab without unbolting the seat back, which was dumb. I removed one the day I got the truck so that I could put a booster seat in. With the new headrests, I can easily put it back in and allow someone to ride bolt upright in discomfort if I need...
  3. What did you receive in the mail today for your Ranger?

Cosmetic, but now the EcoBoost has a hat.
  4. Oem mudflap hardware.

Mine definitely came with hardware. I'd make the dealer exchange them.
  5. What did you do to your Ranger today?

It's a 2021. I bought it a little over a year ago. Saw the Genuine Pleather thread some time during the winter and checked mine out. It had two or three cracks and the boot had come off the frame as well. I had the dealer look at it when I was using FordPass points for service and they ordered...
  6. What did you do to your Ranger today?

A dealership replaced my old cracked pleather parking brake boot with a new not-cracked pleather parking brake boot. Hopefully this one will last more than 6 months before it starts to crack and more than 9 before I have to pull it from the truck and re-glue the boot back to its frame...
  7. Jack Height?

Pressure treated wood always shrinks. It's really wet when new. If you lay PT decking as tight as you can, you'll have a 3/16" gap when it totally dries out and is ready to be stained, etc.
  8. Small Road Trip observered drivers.

I think the people driving newer cars are becoming a little more conscientious of their fuel consumption because new cars generally tell you consumption figures, but the average age of a car in the US, at least, is around 12 years old. Over the years as I've asked acquaintances what kind of...
  9. What are your thoughts on normal wear and tear / environmental paint damage?

I do this too, but my first dent was me opening my super-long SuperCab door into a cart return. Parked there because it gives extra space on the other side of the truck. I checked a text message, didn't think and now...any other chips don't hurt as much.
  10. What did you do WITH your Ranger today?

Had my 20k service done and got the fancy new replacement folding headrests for my SuperCab. Definitely what it should have come with since you can remove them without unbolting the rear seat. I saved the dealer half the work since I took out the driver's side rear headrest the day I...
  11. Ford pass removing some features

My app updated today and I didn't lose any functionality that I can tell at all. I'm not now, nor have ever I paid for mobile hotspot. I started my truck with the app for the second time ever after updating. It still tells me my mileage, where my truck is, tire pressure, etc... Anything they...
  12. Need help, key fell out while running, anyone else?

The little pin on my fob slowly works its way out over time. Usually I notice because it makes the key a little harder to open, so I push it back in. The key on my 2015 Golf did the same thing. I can definitely see how it could get stuck in the ignition if the pin was gone and you didn't notice.
  13. Ford Wants To Force You To Not Speed

I have no doubt that this is used ironically, and maybe more so the earnestly, but I have a some acquaintances in Germany who definitely mean it.
  14. Ford Wants To Force You To Not Speed

"Freie Fahrt für freie Bürger" is practically Germany's motto, so I doubt a program/experiment like this is mandatory. Here is the German press release that says that Ford is testing two fully electric Transit Vans in Cologne using Geofencing to maintain speed limits in pedestrian heavy areas...
  15. The forum needs to be split in 2 channels

I'm probably on more of the dad side of this, but I do like seeing the adjective things others do with their trucks even if I wouldn't do it myself.
  16. Tow Hitch Receiver Question

If the truck has the wires for the TBC under the dash, then I think it should also have the tow module. From what I've read here, all XLT's and Lariats have both. My truck did not have the factory tow package. I bought the hitch, 7 pin harness and Red-Arc TBC from etrailer.com. The wires for...
  17. Hood strut install

Grease shouldn't hurt anything, so I'd do it. I don't think removing the paint would be needed. If there's a friction issue, the strut will remove the paint for you :)
  18. What are you guys towing?

My little mileage destroyer. Probably a little over 1200 lb with my trim carpentry tools loaded in, but I take about a 6 mpg hit when I pull it up the interstate. It's not even kind of aerodynamic, so I'm not really surprised, but it seems to punch above its weight. My flat trailer inflicts...
  19. When Do You Fill Up?

I just plan it out. Today I had 16 til empty according to the truck. I knew I'd need to fill up on my way home from work. I fill up if I won't be able to make it where I'm going. I won't risk running pout of gas though. I knew 16 or so would be safe on my way to work this morning. .
  20. The first thing you took off your Ranger???

The POS third brake light flasher that the dealer tried to charge me $399 for.
