As with many others here, I also opted for the 91-93 non soft shift tune. The shifts are firm, but not bad, and I'm hoping that helps my transmission last a bit longer - 64k and doing well, along with fluid changes.
I know some people like the tow tune - I tried it but it just felt kind of...
Mike, it was your extreme attention to detail and producing a quality product that made people want to support your efforts. I'm happy to have been an early one (I think my stick is #06).
You deserve all the success you've had!
IF you need it - the two times I've purchased extended warranties for cars, I never used them. I bought one on my 2005 Ranger - 7 year, 100k miles - never used it. Bought it for our C-Max Hybrid because I was worried about all the electronics and that car has been the most trouble free vehicle...
For me, I've never considered extended warranties as a true warranty. They really are a form of insurance - you hope you never need them, but if you do, you are glad you got them. My personal experience with them is the few times I've purchased them, I didn't use them. I have not purchased...
Amen, Brudda! I can't believe I've had mine for almost 7 years now (April will be its 7th anniversary). I ordered it almost 7 years ago now. HOLY CRAP!!!
Duke, I just watched the 30th anniversary special for Everybody Loves Raymond (I loved that show), and this just made me laugh out loud.
I've been known to say "Holy Crap" now and then....
But you are right - this is how it is SUPPOSED to be. I can only hope my truck performs as well...
It seems like quality and reliability is taking a back seat to cost and "time to market" (rushing stuff out to beat competitors) - so we end up with crap much of the time.... That is my old man take on it.
I know that is how software has gone - it is all about how fast you can churn something...
I'm curious what your concern is with the 3.5 Ecoboost? I know it is anecdotal evidence but I know two people who have them that have had zero issues with them. One of them is my son, who just passed 150k on his. The other is a friend who tows a pretty large travel trailer with it and he said...
This - 100% this. With all the issues it seems as though all the manufacturers are having with new models, I would really hate to roll the dice. I plan on driving the wheels off this truck....
Interesting - I'm a little confused at the tow/haul mode on hills even when not towing. I've never felt like my truck was struggling in the least on hills - EVER.
I really enjoy hearing reports like this. Thanks for sharing it. I'm at about 64k now and I've been trouble free - it has been a great truck for me, but all the reports of transmission failures does concern me. I'm doing what I can to extend the life of the transmission (fluid changes...
Does anyone know exactly what changed with this "update"? I don't use the app too often, but I did do this update and from what I can see, all they did was change how it looks - I don't see anything new - and they still haven't added the ability to add receipts to the service history (which it...
I use 4WD (not 4L) sometimes when driving on washboarded forest service roads, especially when driving uphill - it helps keep the chatter down - it isn't needed to drive the road but it does make it a bit less bumpy. My thought is - if you have it, why not use it?
