CVTs don't really shift. It is kind of like an advanced version of the centrifugal clutch that was on go karts really. We've had our C-Max for 8 years now - it has been the most reliable vehicle we've ever owned and we are getting about 40 MPG with it. Funny thing is it was built in the same...
I'm honestly tired of all the "blame game" and the "us vs them" mentality that has infected every corner of our country. I truly think most politicians use the "us vs them" to keep people riled up and to keep them giving money - it is horribly bad for our republic, IMO. People need to stop...
A second for finding a fiduciary financial advisor. I wish I had done that years before we finally did. I'm sure it is what allowed me to retire "early" (just shy of 62). Before we got him, my old 401ks from previous employers really didn't do much - once we rolled them all over to him, they...
I will say this - there has been a LOT of hype about "AI", but the reality is that is hasn't lived up to all the hype. IMHO, We are in a situation similar to when the internet became "the thing". It was going to solve all the worlds problems - it did a lot of good things, but it failed to live...
I'm not 100% positive, but I'm like 95% sure that the Ford Performance tune was done by Livernois - Your concern is warranted for sure, but in this case, I don't think Livernois is going anywhere. They are a pretty reputable company and have been around since 1949. I've been very happy with my...
IMO, by FAR, the hardest part of the job is making sure the fluid level is correct. This is the primary reason why the FitzStick is almost required in order to do this job. Even with it, it is still difficult to get the correct parameters to make sure it is correct. It is REALLY easy to under...
That is what I was thinking - there was DEFINITELY an issue with other 2.3s in other vehicles but when they tweaked the 2.3 for the Ranger they fixed that issue.
I thought that issue was for other 2.3 variants? I thought they changed the design for the 2.3 designed for the Ranger? It is mostly the same as other variants but I do remember reading about the head gasket issue but am like 99% sure it was not an issue for the Ranger engines.
I'm pretty sure the factory LED taillights are a sealed unit - there are not replaceable bulbs on them. The only ones with replaceable bulbs are the XL taillights which are more traditional bulbs, not LEDs.
What are you trying to accomplish?
I'm no expert but I've been hearing a lot of negative things about the oil pump in the 2.7. It is apparently driven by a belt which isn't a great design honestly for such an important piece of the engine. The 2.3 has proven itself to be a pretty good engine - I'm not sure I'd consider the 2.7...
I don't warm it up, but I do let it idle for like 30 seconds before I take off usually. The trans fluid doesn't like to be cold - it doesn't take a lot, but a few seconds of warming up helps with the cold performance of the transmission, IMO.
A failing DPFE sensor can cause what appear to be shifting issues, so it is possible that is the root problem. It will be interesting to hear what you feel once you get your truck back.
Granted - but they suck in the rain, they suck in the snow, they suck in the mud.... I guess longevity is something - but for me it isn't all that important.
FYI, I'd check the price on the extended warranty at Granger - they typically sell for something like $50 over cost, usually WAY cheaper than a dealer will sell them for.
