I think you'll find this forum is a great place to hang out and the people are very helpful. In the post you're referencing, the guy had some issues that he was hoping Ford would rectify under warranty, but given some of the, errrrrrr...
...outside of normal use activities his truck...
Oh for sure, but...
My patrol car saw regular service, but the motor went, and went big. A Blackstone report would have shown higher than normal metal values resulting from a cam lobe getting chewed up. Now if I personally owned that car, and I had the knowledge that something was going wrong...
For a minute, I agreed with you. But then I started thinking, "If I start getting the warning bells that my motor is starting to feast upon itself, it might be time to preemptively trade my truck in!"
Believe it or not, the US version of the Ranger is built a little tougher than the Asian/Aussie market version of the truck. Americans' standards for trucks are higher, requiring less frame flex, less NVH, and a preference for exposed "steel" bumpers. Our version of the frame is not exactly...
This is correct. The Aussies don't have the gasser down there. The diesel mounted the alternator up high, which is really nice. This a a great video explaining why it works so well for their trucks:
I think if I were able to get the long distance overlanding trip together I've always wanted to do, the ARB/knock-off breather kit would be on my list of tasks to do to help "harden" my truck. But I think I'm good with how it's put together now!
I see this possibly being the case. During my short stint as a service writer at a Ford dealership, it was clear that production quality was taking a huge nosedive. The service manager cracked me up by saying they were kind enough to draw a circle around the problem...
I was shocked when my...
I've got a hard-rolling cover on mine, and the only time I have issues with water intrusion is when the drains for the cover get clogged, which will overflow into the bed of the truck. I'm actually surprised I don't get water issues more often because the bed rack mounts under the rails for the...
We had a hire car in Moscow, Russia; this is what his dash looked like! He had multiple maps running, traffic reports, and live news - all just so he could move clients around Moscow's TERRIBLE traffic. I felt it comical! ? But damn, they can't drive in Moscow! HAHAHAHA!
I gotta say, this was our 8th cruise, the shortest cruise we've taken at only three nights, and it was a great experience. They treat you so well onboard, and the alcohol package is pretty nice, too! LOL
Damn! There used to be a nice diagram that showed the locations of our axle breathers but I can't find it. They are better than a not awful but they could be a little higher.
I got off a cruise ship in the AM, and once I got back to the house, I took the Ranger for an oil change and tire rotation, that was $FREE.99 with my FordPass points!
This may sound crazy, but check your fan clutch sensor harness to make sure the support hose isn't failing. Mine letting go caused a huge electrical gremlin party to be hosted in my Ranger and all of the different functions of my truck showed up at that party.
A buddy of mine was returning back to the PD after a long shift when some rando on the opposite side of the highway had a heart attack, crossed the median at 90 mph, and hit his patrol car head-on. Absolutely HORRIFIC! It is supposed that the other driver was already dead before the impact...
