The Hankooks were the best of all the OEM tires on recent vehicles in my house (last 20 years or so). That said, they were way too squishy for me. I also disliked the white lettering. I thought they drove fine though, decent traction on road and off-road.
2. Run wires through the firewall
There is an easier place to do this on the passenger side, behind and up from the glove box. You can see it from the engine bay, behind the coolant reservoir. The big rubber grommet has a small pull out tab on the lower half that you can remove to open up a...
I second the battery tender recommendation. I use it 1-2/x month on my Ranger to top off the battery. I also used Forscan to up the charging percent from 75% to 80%. I should go back and increase that to 90%. (Lariats are set stock at 75% from Ford, instead of 70%).
I get the Fordpass warning...
I found the Lariat fogs to be decent, at least better than most OEM fogs.
I added a set of DD yellow stage series light bars.
In normal driving, I use the stock fogs. In poor weather I use the DD yellows...
From my research and installation on an inverter in my travel travel, 1000W and up you probably need more than the stock battery and wiring. I have a 100AH LiFePo battery in my trailer with a 700W inverter (Both Renogy). Stepping up to 1000W, the recommendation is 2x batteries to source enough...
The Hankooks are very soft and squishy. That does make for a comfy ride. I think any other (better) tire will have you feeling the road more. The Hankooks were like jello, IMHO :p
I'll second the Cooper Discoverer Road & Trail AT. I put them on in May (4 months ago). I went with 265/65R18 (one up from stock). I love the look. Mine are XL load rated, which greatly improved my towing over the Hankooks. I have been on a fair amount of variable forest roads also. I am happy...
Good report that matches my experience.
I also live and tow in the PNW, mountains all around me.
I have a slightly smaller trailer - 5,000 lbs gross, 20 ft long. The wind gusts occasionally hit me, but after several years towing with the Ranger, I am used to them being harmless. Upgraded...
I sort of agree with you. The giant blocky lettering, and aggressive sidewall makes the tires harder to clean. The coopers I got were less aggressive on the side than the Falkans.
Of that list, I'd go Falken Wildpeak AT4W.
I had my tires narrowed to the Falken above, or Cooper Raad+Trail. I got the Coopers in XL load and have been very happy with them. I would have been just as happy with the Falkens. If I recall, I choose the Coopers due to cost, slightly better wet...
I needed a new HVAC box due to the blend door issue. My extended warranty covered that without hesitation. That single repair more than paid for my warranty cost.
XL load is the way to go for towing, without the heaviness or harshness of higher ply rated tires. I out XL Cooper Discoverers on in the spring and towing is night and day improved over the Hankooks.
The Hankook ATMs are so soft on the side, I doubt they will handle being aired down well. I am also with YaBoiNewton that airing down in unnecessary and probably contributed to the tire damage.
I have Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail A/Ts in XL load and have been very happy. They tow well, are...
