I just think your out having to much fun driving around in the new Truck.
Actually, not much John
Honolulu's roads are infested with rude and inattentive drivers, would you believe I got cut off by an idiot SUV "driver" on my way home from the dealership?
The Ranger has an effective horn, as she found out.

I think that describes pretty much any major city - gotta love the horn

Funny you say that, my 1995 Mustang is low miles in excellent condition.
It had been in storage, and only driven occasionally for most of 16 years before I got it.
The only issue it had was that the horn didn't work.
I just started to investigate the cause when I pressed the horn button a bunch of times and it started to work.
It apparently had just never been used.

That is exactly why I fitted a 70's Cadillac 4 note system (eBay) to my un-assuming '02 Honda CR-V. The factory "weep-weep" horn just did not cut it.
I don't 'drive' with my horn, but when I need to get another motorist's attention, it certainly does the job.

We travel all over the country, mostly avoiding cities, since we generally don't speak the language.
Lol, I've never visited France, yet my "French" is very good indeed...

Funny you mention a Mustang, my first ever new vehicle was a '79 Mercury Capri (Fox platform), the horn was activated by pushing the turn signal lever inwards towards the steering column, I was used to this location, but most unaccustomed drivers were not.
Ford used this "Better Idea" across the board for a few years, then moved it back to the center of the strg. wheel, after, presumably receiving many complaints.

HI Mokume,

My first experience with a turn signal horn was on the Ford Cortina. Thought it was weird then as I would now...

I kinda thought that the brits were responsible for this, thanks to them we are stuck on the antiquated measuring system in place now.
The metric system is much more logical and user-friendly.

Edit: since I am stuck in the automobile trivia mode, who can remember how the turn signals were operated on a '67 Toyota Corona?
May have applied to '68's and '69's also.

Ford went metric in design in the late 70s, but I still design and work in inches and feet, but in bolt sized I always think metric, however the idiot that decided on frame/chassis bolt heads at 18mm...Jerk! I had to buy sockets and wrenches in 18mm...impact, 6 and 12 point regular depth and long depth and so on....Arrrg!

Agreed!
Nobody else in the automotive industry (with the possible exception of GM and Chrysler) that I can remember uses 15 or 18mm bolt head sizes!
Edit: the French may have used these sizes, ah the eccentric French, who produced a car with a steering wheel that resembled someone sticking their tongue out at you!

Here in Hawaii, it is considered extremely rude to use the horn excessively, I only use the device only when it is absolutely necessary.
Indeed, many road rage incidents here resulted from such, but yes, other motorists don't expect such a sound from a Honda.
