I test drove a Tacoma when I was shopping around before I went with the Ranger. I know Toyota is all hyped up but I wasn’t really impressed with it. The one I tested (can’t remember what year it was) drove like crap. Suspension was stiffer than 2x4 lumber and the interior felt and looked kind of cheap. By the time I went around the block, I told the salesman I wasn’t interested but thanks for letting me try it out.

I’m not Toyota guy but what’s the deal with Tacoma’s? Seems like everyone and their brothers drive one. Am I missing something?? lol
Just a quick update, i got on KBB and they offered $22,400 to buy my truck at 3 different dealerships. I went to the 1st dealer and they paid me $23,200 for it. Good by Ranger! I will never buy a Ford again.
OPPPS!! 🤡 Too many tabs open at once- meant to post this in one of my motorcycle forums.

So... Ford did produce a 6G SuperCrew/long bed test vehicle that was spied driving around Dearborn the summer of '23, but not considered for production:

2021 early 6G prototype reg. cab 6ft box. Note LHD but no cab mounted (NA) nor tailgate mounted (ROW) CHMSL or fender vents:

Ford is probably keeping an eye on Taco and Frontier long box sales and keeping these in their back pocket just in case. For now folks who are buying 850,000+ F-Series a year aren't complaining about the size.
As long as Bronco and F-Series are selling well, Ranger will remain, "Ya git whatcha git an' ya don't have a fit!"
I would buy it. I'm also keeping an eye on what the new Ram Dakota is going to be.

I would jump at a 6' bed Supercab, but I'm sure you are right - Ford won't do ANYTHING to threaten F-150 sales. I think that is why the Ranger feels like a forgotten stepchild in NA. Its too bad because I would never consider an F-150 - they are just too big.
I'll never purchase an F150, unless they shrink it to the Ranger size. I garage my autos. And I'm not going to build a garage just for an F150.

And I won't be buying another Ranger unless it is a Supercab. The bigger bed is far more important to me than that back seat. It proved itself for 2 years of use when I first bought it. My 2005 Ranger Scab would have taken twice as many trips. The bed height came in very handy back then.

The 5G Scab is the perfect size for me.

You are absolutely correct on the size of the F series, here in Honolulu, our roads are clogged with traffic because of our population density and the resulting amount of vehicles on the road at any point in time.

Not to mention various parking lots where stalls are downright miniscule, most full size pickups simply do not fit without encroaching into the adjacent space, matter of fact there are some lots where my beater '02 Honda CR-V takes up the whole space width wise with very little room to spare.

I'm almost certain that 5th gen Ranger dimensions are very close to a mid-'80's F series.

Driving a current full size pickup in Honolulu is sadism...

No SCAB (called Open Cab) or Single Cab for NA market, but they do have them in Super Pacific region. They even have Chassis Cab available

The gray S/Cab is a very handsome truck, IMHO it looks much more sportier than a S/Crew.
If it were available in NA, I'd order one in a very dark midnight blue with the chrome exterior package in a heartbeat...

And this is why if I had to buy a new truck today, it would probably be a Nissan--because they'll actually sell me a truck rather than a minvan with no third row.

Unfortunately, Ford also did away with the higher trim versions of the S/Cab in the F150 a few years ago.
Can't fault Ford, evidently the market segment for F150 S/Cabs is very low, just like 5th gen Rangers.
Ninety five percent of Rangers (if not more) here in Honolulu are S/Crews, while almost all S/Cabs are basic models which small businesses use, contractors, pest control companies and the like.
There's only a handful of S/Cabs here which are not relegated to a business, my '20 Lariat being one of them.

The thing I liked about the 2019 ranger is that they had an option for a higher-trim scab, but they were almost all special orders rather than something you'd ever see at a dealer. Ford gave you the option, but grudgingly. Then, after making sure scabs were mostly unavailable for purchase they complained about the take rate. 🤷‍♂️

Another reason not to buy an F150.
When it's time to replace my Ranger, I'll be regretfully upping in size due to my towing requirements. I don't plan on that for a few more years, but at this point it likely won't be a F150 for that reason alone. Don't know where I'll end up.

In 2019, my scab Lariat had to be brought in from 2 states over. They are relatively rare.

The reality is that crew cab pickups are the new SUVs after SUVs morphed into crossovers. (SUVs were just the new station wagons after the CAFE standards made station wagons extinct 30 years ago) The irony is that crew cabs used to be nearly exclusively work trucks and now they're family haulers and the standard & s/cabs are the work trucks. So it's not a surprise that there's not enough demand to justify the Lariat trim on the s/cabs. A shame, but the reality.

Since it's just the mrs & I, I've really loved the s/cab layout; better use of space and the extra foot pf bed. I guess I'll start hoping that GM gets its act back together, or maybe even consider a RAM. (Ugh, unlikely, but I gotta keep an open mind)

Yeah, I went 75 miles for my 2020 XLT Scab. Only one for 150 miles!

I special ordered my S/Cab in mid August 2019 and took delivery of it in Jan 2020, it was well worth the wait.
Besides it was equipped with options I wanted, not what some sales manager thinks I should have...
