Greetings! I am aware that some of us are subject to a seat belt recall (it stated something about faulty install) although I've not gotten any notice I have that recall, last night I attempted to use one of my seat belt extensions in the front passenger seat. It clicks into the female oem buckle but the shoulder/lap harness refused to snap into the extender. Both extenders work fine on the driver side. I had these both in my F150 and worked fine. The issue I found is the passenger harness has the same outer shape as the extender but the inner hole that clicks in is not a complete rectangle like the driver side. It looks like figure 8 with the indents in the inner center preventing the harness from locking into the extender. My dealer attempted to order "Ranger seat belt extenders" but was told they don't make them yet. I used these same extenders in my F150, my wife's 2018 Fusion and other Fords so the issue is the front passenger seat belt harness which is part of the recall however in my case its not a faulty install, it's a manufacturer error.
I am attaching pics I just took of all of the male ends of all 5 seat belts. Why in the world did they install 4 different male ends in the same vehicle?!! The ONLY excuse for one would be for some sort of child restraint seat which I will never have. Other than that all of the belts, male and female ends along with the extender should have been identical just like they are in my Fusion and how my F150 was (2012). I have elderly and large in laws so the extenders in all of our vehicles makes it easier for us to buckle them in. Plus my Durango (Sheriffs veh) needs extensions due to the short female end alongside a metal console makes it super difficult to undo the seat belt fast and get it past my mag pouches so having the extender on all my seats is how I roll.
1st pic is all 3 rear belts notice the center one is different. 2nd pic is front seat passenger alongside the extender. 3rd pic is driver seat belt and extender (identical )
Lastly my Ford app shows a recall in the works for in some cases faulty taillights due to loose connections. Once I receive notice in the mail I will take it in and they will reinstall the taillight Connectors. So far mine work fine.
