Hey everyone,
I was checking an engine code and noticed some extra wiring around the port that seems a little odd.
  • There’s an extra pig tail connection coming off the back of the the normal OBD port and it has an aftermarket label.
  • A small box labeled “GPS Tracker” mounted nearby.
  • Another plug that’s tied up, and it looks like it could be the factory part that was moved?

I have uploaded some pics and tried to label the items. It is a screenshot from a video i made but it looks like the video is too large to attach. I’m just trying to understand what each of these components is — whether it’s something factory, dealer-installed, or aftermarket.

Any insight or experience with this kind of setup would be really appreciated.

(If this isn’t the right section, I’m happy for a mod to move it.)

Thanks!

The OE connector is the Gateway Module (GWM) the front on the GWM is the OBD port- remove the T-Harness and extra SPY crap- plug the OE harness back into the back of the GWM and then remount the GWM to the OE location.
No it’s not factory, it’s a dealer or seller add on, to aid in repossession recovery

I noticed that my auto start-stop does not work. It may have been overridden and maybe this has something to do with it?

Your battery may be weak and need to be recharged using a charger. The auto stop/start will not function with a weak battery.

Assuming that you bought it used and the battery condition is unknown, put a charger on the battery (connect the negative lead of the charger on a body bolt, not the negative battery terminal). Charge the battery overnight or longer. See if the ASS then works. The battery has to be in good condition and fully charged for ASS to work.

It’s possible the previous owner installed an auto stop start eliminator.
