Ok, I'll be the one to do it...

Do people still seriously siphon gas? o_O

I didn’t think it was possible on any vehicle for quite some time but I could be wrong... I was under the impression that there is usually some sort of check valve in the filler neck.

I couldn't find anything on a locking plug/cap for the new model Ranger capless filler neck.

https://accessories.ford.com/locking-fuel-plug.html

Is this the right one?
Nooooo, it will NOT fit...
The Ford locking plugs are not universal. I saved the one from my 2011 Mustang (8U5Z-9C268-B) and it does NOT fit the new Ranger.
This was also brought up in another thread months ago...and oddly I was criticized for wanting to/locking my fuel filler.

around here yes.
it was about $1.60 a litre a couple months ago
It's gotten over $5.00 a gallon here a few times in the last few years...still haven't heard about people siphoning gas. I really thought that was a dead issue with the check valves that are installed now.

I have two other rides with this "capless" fuel system-
Both have the locking cap/plug. The openings on the other vehicles are completely different than the Ranger. I figured with the new Ranger filler neck design, I thought there was one already out there.

To me, it's more than just siphoning. Dirt/debris could get around the opening and then enter the tank by accident.

Plus piece-of-mind...

Too bad, Ford could do like they do in the international markets-

Have a key-lock fuel door, same ignition key unlocks the fuel door.

Or have the fuel door open by pulling a lever inside the cab.

My Honda Civic’s gas door locks when the car is locked and unlocks when the car is unlocked. It’s cap less. Simple and peace of mind. It’s not rocket science, come on Ford engineers, make this a non issue.

Good point, here in Honolulu mindless vandals and thieves do all sorts of things to people's property because of jealously.
There has also been a rash of cat. converters being stolen for the platinum, crackheads here resort to all sorts of things.
Lifted trucks and SUV's are especially vulnerable.]

I thought the fuel necks had some kind of anti-siphon built in. ?
