I figured that it was time to do a build thread on my OTR Ranger. This is a very budget minded build, and to quote my late Grandpa, "better late than never." I keep seeing aftermarket stuff on other members trucks that I like, and wonder can I put that on my truck and will I actually use it. Sid, buddy your truck was the inspiration for this, I'm slowly working my way through your build thread to meet myself where I started reading at the latter part of it. BTW, Dad calls what I'm doing looking at this different aftermarket stuff, "window shopping."

Here we go, a couple of early shots of the truck. One taking during our once a year Texas snow and ice storm, and the other roughly a few days before I was cleared to join Ranger 5g.

The only thing aftermarket on it at the time was the Undercover hard folding tonneau cover, other than that, basic XLT Sport 4x4.

The next part of this was purchasing the Go Rhino RB20 running boards. I saw them on another members truck and the price was within budget. The next thing I know, I'm at Lone Star Conversions ordering them, and then they also installed the running boards.

Then I mulled and researched the aftermarket wheels for almost a month before deciding to pull the trigger and go through with it.

Very nice Clay! Moderation is the key to happiness except when you're in the 5G community that goes out the window. There's never a "This is a very budget minded build" on here which you should know by now. :curse:💸

Here's a little house truck warming present to help get you going.🤑

It can be done. Remember Dave I have the blood of a old farmer, my late Grandpa, and the blood of a former long haul trucker and hot rodder my Dad running through my veins.

Uh oh.
The trucker blood is gonna have you taking a road trip to Joplin, MO to the Chrome Shop Mafia store for some bling! Choose wisely, Grasshopper!

:stop: No it can't! Remember I'm part Polish and we're known for being cheap frugal and even I went overboard on my '19.🤦‍♂️ Luckily I was able to scavenge most of my parts (and many OEM parts) from it when it was totaled and transferred them to my Tremor.

You'll see soon enough. 😜

Listen to @Chris M . He knows of what he speaks. He hasn’t posted any pictures of himself on here but in case you didn’t know, this is what he looks like…

The trucking thing....gets in your blood. Hard to not identify with it even after being out of it for a very long time.

Lol...Claude Akins...super tv trucker!

10-4 Chris, although I think any chrome would kill the look of it, if you get my drift. Lol! Thank you for the advice.

I beg to differ Sir, it can and will be budget minded. If you look closely at the truck in the pictures in the other threads that I have posted it in, the only aftermarket items are the tonneau cover, running boards and the wheels. The rest of it is OEM factory Ford, aka bone stock.

Moving on, the day the new 17x9 Fuel Shok wheels with + 20 offset were installed. Thank you Discount Tire Sherman, TX. I let them keep the stock size wheels, for anyone who is unaware of that, so that card is on the table. Thank you to everyone who pitched in their information and the images of your trucks, while I was thinking this through.

And this how it is currently. Anything else aftermarket is on hold for now. It's going to be getting a new set of Goodyear Wrangler ATs before winter sets in.

My wife is a Registered Nurse, and when we watch medical shows she just shakes her head at the mistakes and missteps the shows writers make. I do the same thing when I see truckers featured on shows and movies. Good entertainment I suppose for those that dont know, but if you DO know, you know...

I have to agree with you Chris. When you Do know, you know. I will say this about the shows and movies now compared to Moving On and SMOKEY and the BANDIT. They didn't have CGI, like the modern shows and movies have. The old TV shows and movies just used who and what was available to them.

What's funny (not really) is just watch any police show and when there's a shootout no ones effected by the gun fire. I watch Chicago PD and they're always having this big shootout in a warehouse and if that were even somewhat real their ears would've been all blown out.

Heck we were shooting in the desert and stopped to move some targets and talking a bit. I forgot to put my headset back on and one shot, outdoors with only a 9mm hurt. It's bad enough I have tinnitus as it is I don't need to add to it lol
