I purchased one of those PCV plates years ago and still have it in the box new. I did look it over and I don't recall it having a rattle to it. I'll break it out and see if it is a true check valve. One would think so. I know the back side had ribbed baffles to catch oil vapors. I remember thinking how hard it would be to replace it. Part of the many screws were located up just under the intake manifold.
