well if they suck it might be a result of Goodyear owning them. Goodyear makes some good tires but lots and lots of mediocre ones.
They're great tires and I wanted to continue buying them but they stopped making them with white letterings...they could've continued and allow customers to reverse them if not wanted...but instead, they lost a customer for life...

3 out of 4 of my vehicles have Coopers. I have used Coopers for over 20 years with no issues. On my Ranger I went with Falken ATW4 this year because of the reviews on here., the only exception.

What do you think of the Falken ATW4 , I picked up the ATW3 on a close out deal from Tire Rack, XL tires , I think for $212 ea . Lost a bit of mpg as they are heavier than the oem Hankook but I was driving on a muddy uphill 4 wheel drive road a few weeks back and the traction was outstanding.

To my understanding the ATW4 is worse than the ATW3.
I can't remember if it was me or someone else that posted it, but TFL did a comparison of the ATW4, BFG KO3 and Destination XT. The ATW4 came out in last while the others left it in the dust. Also of the 3 the ATW4 is made in Taiwan. The KO3 I believe is made in the US and the Destination XT is made in Canada.

Well I have very little credence in most anything that comes from TFL (being Boulder based doesn't help with my perception) my purchase of the Wildpeak was largely influenced by an attractive price , would have bought another brand - Cooper, Firestone, are some I considered, BFG too pricey for me. I did read a review that was pretty harsh about the ATW4 - mostly owing to the heft of the tire, Falken improved the tread life along with some other marginal improvements over the ATW3 but added a good deal of weight. The only tires I can recall having structural integrity issues with were Pirellis and Continentals - both excellent tires from a handing perspective but with thin sidewalls where I experienced sidewall bubbles - and the tires were not subjected to any out of the ordinary driving. Michelins I've owned have been 100% reliable, quiet and last close to their treadwear rating.
So I think the Faulkens are a very robust tires albeit somewhat heavier than many competitors. Doubt that I'll buy Falken again when mine need replacing, one reason besides a closeout price that I went with an XL tire was I tow a 4k lbs trailer.

I have had the AT4W for a year and a half now. They have been great in dry, rain and snow. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another set.

In one of the ATW4 reviews I read that Falken wanted to appeal more to the off roaders and make them less of a highway tire, when I researched AT tires to replace my OEM Hankooks I was surprised how many makes offer AT tires. I live 1.5 hrs from Moab and not too far from I-70 where you see all sorts of vehicles headed to Moab, some are towing their ATVs like Razor , tricked out Jeeps or other heavy duty off road vehicles, but was bike riding with wife on a path close to I-70 when we heard this loud racket on I-70 thought someone ran something over and was dragging it or driving with a flat tire - no it was a jacked up F-150, with maybe 20" of ground clearance and with huge tires protruding from the fenders (illegal btw but rarely if ever ticketed) , super aggressive tread on the tires, the noise was so loud it possibly violated local sound ordinance, doubt that anyone in the cabin could carry on a conversation. Moab has become a pretty crazy place and very busy.

Thankfully the tests they ran were for winter type conditions primarily and that is where the Fallen failed

So far so good, very quiet. A lot more stability and confidence than the Hankooks! Don’t know what the mileage drop is, but with 1.8” Bilstein and 265/70/18 I’m sure I can kiss my best recorded 27mpg from the stock tires goodbye.

IMO humbly i might add, Cooper tires suck. They used to be good, if I'm not mistaken got bought out by Firestone. We'll there you go.
I used to have a set of Cooper AT3's but they never balanced right.
Replaced them with a set of Mastercraft AT's (Cooper's bargain brand), ride and balance very well, no issues.

I guess if you are willing to pay for it, after market kits are available. I seem to have a vague memory from my involvement with tire manufacturing back in the 70s that raised white letters required some extra steps in the process, using white rubber and some buffing and maybe special molds not exactly sure but it did add cost. In the kit pictured below you even get white gloves, I laugh at some of the stuff I've ordered that;s made in China - shelving, bike disc brake bleeder kit, etc and you get stuff like a diminutive cheap plastic hammer, gloves, allen wrenches and so on. I rarely have worn gloves for car work, the noxious substances from gas, oil, brake fluid, anti-freeze have undoubtedly seeped through my skin and corrupted my brain.
I do recall one funny incident from the tire factory where carbon black - very fine powder was taken from RR tank cars and put in some sort of storage and gravity fed system that the workers purposely clogged and set it upped so the frenetic foreman rushed to free the jam and was absolutely inundated in carbon black, probably lowered his like expectancy by several yrs as when you worked near that stuff it always got thru to your skin.

I appreciate the tip, Dtech...I think these would be great for road racers that'll rarely see the sidewall touch anything...except maybe Mustangs...probably not an option for off road tires with aggressive side walls patterns...

Mpg was likely a major factor in Hankook being oem , I was ok with them but somewhere around 30k got 3 punctures and decided to replace. Iirc correctly some on here have gotten over 50k .

lol, yup my experience also but 2 punctures and they had a lot cracks on the sidewalls at 32k miles. Not a bad ride for a street tire, but I wanted something for truck activities. Like many have said, this is how they should have come from the factory stock.

If you like the AT3s, look at the Falcon Rubitrek AT.They are about the same tire.

I have 45k miles on my Cooper rugged treks. Been very happy with them. Will be buying another set to replace them when they wear out in about 10k more miles. Excellent on road for a hybrid m/t and extremely good in mud and snow.
