Did an oil change today on my 2020 Ford Ranger and noticed this black goo like substance, not oil or a lubricant most likely a gasket sealant has a sticky feel. This looks like the transmission fluid pan connected to the transmission to the rear drive shaft area. Looks like a failure between the parts. Truck has been driving with no issues at 29,037 miles.

It appears to be where the transfer case mounts to the transmission. There’s no fluid between the transmission and transfer case. So most likely just some excess sealant from mounting the transfer case when new. You can try cleaning it up and monitoring it. Also you could check your transfer case fluid level just to be sure. But that’s regular LV transmission fluid and it would be reddish color.

Thank you for the info, will plan to monitor got 2 warranties on this rig a life time power train from dealer no extra charge and an extended warranty thru the Granger Ford company. Im sure my Bilstien 5100 level and 265/70/17 tires will void any warranty. :like:
