Week of focus for the Ranger and toys….

Other than the front seat JACKERS install, Grill LEDs also decided this Ford Ranger needed some help Getting A Step Up!!!!

I was in the market looking for a place to get some AMP-Research Power Steps. I emailed dealers/installers local and a few others. Seems the APS company since being sold the quality and warranty support has become a challenge for customers and installers. I received replies back from two other APS dealers/installers and they both had similar issues with APS and warranty support problems.
All seemed to mention Westin Power Steps as an option. Well got a set of Westins installed This past week. So far so good and look good! Thanks to all for the support on options.

And lastly today added the Crome hood shield from AVS. Definitely cheap but it looks good. Would have preferred a screw lip mounting installation like the Stampede brand. Not a fan of the 3M tape installation for the shield. But it’s on and looks good. Let’s hope it stays adhered to the hood.

Next the PUTCO Bumper Grille Insert but that looks to be a PITA install for this simple grille insert so maybe next week….. and still on the list is the MBS transmission dip stick mod. Again maybe next week.

Grille insert isn't as hard as it might look. It flexes when it needs to so you don't have to take the facia off or anything. Took me about 30 min total because I'm old and don't move fast, so getting up and down off the ground isn't my strong suite.

Mine's been on since I bought it in '21...no rattles or problems. Same with the bug shield as well. Tape is rock solid with no issues, even going through car washes.

You'll be fine. Enjoy!

The electric adjuster does not raise the front of the seat enough. The electric adjuster doesn’t have enough front up separate tilt. On my F150 those seats had a large range of separate tilt up or down unlike what I noted on the Ranger. When I read about folks raising the front seat mounts with inserts for the reasons I experienced I decided to get a set of DESERT DOES IT -JACKERS. And it solved my issue.
I love 'em too - no fancy pants electric seats but they make a world of difference for me and Kate. =)

Going on 2+ years and still happy - doing a long weekend coming up with a 5 hour drive there and back, and they'll help. I think the longest I've sat on them is a 9-hour day trip and my butt never complained! =)

Wilwood peakaboo.

put a bunch of miles on today and, the pedal is going to take getting used to (in a good way). I almost put myself through the windshield.
@Chris M - why the sad reaction?

Probably the same reason I’d put a sad reaction….
Being peanut butter and jealous that I don’t have super cool wilwood brakes. ?.

or… he read the part..”almost put myself through the windshield.” Which would be sad if that happened.. took a literal interpretation..?
Or it’s the scratches on the wheels?
I took it as damn these brakes are good n grabby?.

Did it just do the fronts or is it a full kit?
And do you need larger wheels to clear, or would they fit inside the 17” wheels?

That I can understand. I feel that way about long travel.

If it literally happened, it would be sad. hahaha

I will run the OE wheels until they can't be balanced anymore. Then... I might think about upgrading. I wheel too hard to want to spend $1500 on something that is going to get scratched immediately.

I'm not sure they're more grabby that OE, per se, but the pedal is instant and that takes getting used to.

This is fronts only. I looked at all the options in many BBK threads on here and... The only rear offerings are from over seas companies. (I don't care that they're over seas, but more that they won't fit the US Spec Rangers. I tried to get brake lines for the ROW Rangers and... they don't fit the US Spec.) In all reality, the fronts do what I needed. The pedal is no longer soft and... the truck stops like a dream, even with all my added weight.

Better feeling when applying the brakes to me is more than enough reason to get it done…. Pressing the pedal and all the firm, squish, firm feeling I get ( may not be the most accurate description, but it’s my description ?.) cause a mild unnerving sensation for me… i prefer firm consistent feeling, the stock braking system doesn’t seem to feel consistent for me.
Anyways… when I’m in the position to do fancy brakes, im gonna bug you for the details ?.

I always had to press, release, and press the brakes again to get a solid pedal feel. Now, I can just press the pedal. I never worried about the truck stopping but the soft pedal was unnerving, for sure.

I will share all the details when you ask.

To revisit my earlier posts about this, the brake fitting on the Ranger is M10 x 1.5. What's weird is that my thread checker (male end) fit the Wilwood fitting with no problems, the (female) end fit on the Ranger with not problems but when I put the Wilwood fitting on the truck fitting, it didn't want to thread on easily. We were able to get a thread or two on and then we used a ratchet to slowly twist the fitting onto the truck. This isn't ideal because this is how you cross thread. It really should have been able to hand thread, at least, a few more threads.

The weird part is both sides of the equation measure out at M10 x 1.5 but then they don't fit together easily.
