I currently have a 2023 Lariat Tremor with the Carbonized Grey color. It came with an OEM Ford retractable Tonneau cover. I have the opportunity to trade the cover for an A.R.E. MX Topper. The only issue is that it is coming off a 2019 Sport Lariat that is Metallic Magnetic Grey with the topper color match the same. My question is, will the difference in the shade between the Carbonized Grey truck with a Metallic Magnetic Grey topper look ok. I do know that the Metallic Magnetic grey is more of a gunmetal grey and that the Carbonized grey has a bit of bronzy like coloration..

Well if you have a Tremor it already has magnetic grey for the bumpers, grill surround and fender flares.

I have a carbonized grey Tremor and the difference between the main body color and the mentioned parts that are magnetic grey is very subtle and is really only noticeable in bright sun.

That's what I was thinking, but I don't have the topper yet to actually see what it would look like. We are supposed to meet up tomorrow and make the decision. The wheel rims on my Lariat Tremor are also Magnetic Grey.

Might be even better if it matches trim instead of paint , but act ? disappointed and maybe get a better deal...

We are doing a straight across trade if both of us agree. I have an OEM tonneau retractable cover on mine and he has the topper. We were both looking for the opposite of what we had. Hopefully this trade works out and we both walk away happy.

Well, looks like I wound up having to pass up on the deal. The guy texted me and let me know that when he and his wife were putting the topper on his truck, it was a little too heavy for her, and it got away from her. Wound up putting some significant scratches in the paint. It was just bad luck, because it was looking really good from the original pictures he sent me. He sent me pictures of the damaged areas and told me he’d completely understand if I didn’t want to go through with the deal. I think he was just as excited to make the trade as I was, and is probably just as bummed as I am that we won’t be trading after all.

Sorry to hear about the loss.

but this is wild. I just joined yesterday and have been considering the exact opposite!
I have a 2019 XLT and got a line on an Action contour III that is on a 2022 Lariat.

I have come to the conclusion that I don’t think the slight color difference is going to bother me, but trying to make sure the thing will fit ok!

If it is just scratches and not structural, what does it cost to get it repainted, then it will color match. Probably cheaper than a new one.
