Thought I'd share my thoughts on the Thermal R&D exhaust since I haven't seen anyone on here with it. Installation was a piece of cake... once the old one came out... Thanks Ford for making the bolt on the clamp at the downpipe upward facing, was really fun getting my fat fingers in there... Installation of the new kit, like many others i assume was made a lot easier by the fact the new one went in via 4 pieces rather than out in just two. On that note, I'd recommend getting the truck up in the air a little bit especially if you're a bigger person.

I went with the turndown option, they've got about 5 tip options. Figure not gonna pay for a nice tip if its just gonna get beat up. Sound wise, its very much a deeper note, videos don't really do it justice. On the road at cruising, its no louder than stock. You can hear a bit more bass coming from the back, but its hard to tell a difference especially if you leave the fake engine noise on (turned mine off). Overall however, I'm very pleased with it even if I would like a bit more volume but a downpipe later down the road should remedy that.

Start and mild revs (didn't want to wake the baby)

Awesome…They make great exhausts. I liked my 3” MBRP (I also had a 3” downpipe), but if this had been around when I had my Ranger I would have spent the extra money to get it.

We have their 3” exhaust on our Explorer ST and it sounds awesome (also have 3” downpipes on the ST).

Yeah they're a little late to the party, think this came out just last year? And I'm actually looking to get one of their systems for our Explorer ST, probably the 2.5 to keep noise in check since the wifey drives it and hauls our daughter around in it. But the price of it suggests i wait a bit.

go 3”….its not overly loud during regular driving, but it screams when you get into it. My wife daily’s our ST and she would not change the exhaust setup for anything.

I’d also recommend the CVF downpipes if you want to open it up a little more. Here’s a warm start and idle vid for you, I need to get some driving videos.

Well given that the Explorer kit is 2.5 times the Ranger kit i just bought, don't think we'll be rushing to get that any time soon. Got some supporting mods to do first anyways.

But I love how yours sounds, and if it was my call I'd do that same setup right now

I appreciate it…definitely is expensive, but as you already know completely worth it
