My aging Garmin dashcam / GPS finally bit it, I miss some features

Depending on the new dash cam you have, it might integrate with a GPS of your choice. I know Garmin has been doing such lately, but unfortunately it doesn't work with the Tread Platform

Well the new one has GPS for time and location stamping, and what not.

Which one did you get? I currently have the Garmin Tandem and it has those features as well.
