Been thinking about possibly putting a snorkel on the ranger… Has anyone done it? I have no reason for wanting to do this other than “just because” lol definitely not a necessity and I really don’t offroad enough to need it. Thought maybe it would look cool? Idk… Opinions?

I think you answered your own question. If it's a "just because" mod, then I suppose go for it if you like it. You'll have to cut a hole in your passenger front fender.

For actual off-roading purposes, the truck will be FUBAR'd from other things before the air intake starts drawing in water. The alternator is mounted low and isn't a fan of being packed with mud and water. Not sure how high our differential and transmission vents are run.

Its your truck. Do with it what pleases you. Personally, I would not but whatever makes you happy with your truck.

There are things to keep in mind as to why you would consider a snorkel. If you are just staying on the street like you already mentioned, then chances are you don't even need one and I would leave it be. If you were actually taking time to travel off road quite often, then it would be a good idea to consider one.

Before you make a decision, take time to go through this thread I created and it will help give you an idea if you should get one or not.

There are more things to consider besides mud and water when it comes to Snorkels. Also you don't necessarily have to drill a giant hole in the fender with the Ranger. That is thanks to Mishimoto

I figure that would be a significant dent in your resell or trade-in value if that matters to you.
I don't care what vehicle it is you have, if you bought it for resale value, then you lost from the get-go

I agree, but that doesn’t mean we don’t retain the ability to avoid making poor financial decisions.

Not a huge concern for me. I plan on keeping this truck until it won’t drive anymore. Then I’ll probably get another daily driver and rebuild the ranger into a crawler. My last truck I had for 11 years until I finally sold it.
No regrets from me. I had a snorkel on my 2011 FJ Cruiser that I kept for nine years. The snorkel has been on the Ranger since the year I bought it (2020). I also have a snorkel on my other rig, which is an import.

thats a pretty sweet setup! Does that bumper have bars that wrap around and turn into rock sliders?? Badass.

What you see on @RangerVA truck is the ARB Summit Bull Bar with Side Steps(not rock sliders) with fender tubes. Keep in mind that every part has a use. If you have no need for it, then you shouldn't bother.

For example here is my 2012 Frontier Pro-4X that I have right now. It has the ARB Deluxe Bull Bar and some Z1 Rock Sliders. It also has a Snorkel from Z1 as well. Keep in mind that I have more uses than just looks. For my use I need the vehicle to be able to handle what I can throw at it(or run into).
