And... as a bonus if you want to see how this happened:
https://1drv.ms/v/s!AtuhT174YsbYl8MsN7fziSYVNbSuMA?e=liWupZ

(video is out of focus, but you get the idea).

This happened minutes after I was done putting the rear leaf spring back on after welding it together when it fractured. (As seen here - https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/thre...back-home-can-i-diy-repair-temporarily.32550/ )

Imagine my surprise hearing that bang and seeing something fly past the windshield.... after just welding a leaf spring back together.

I was exhausted, thirsty, and hungry after 5 hours of work on that project... what you don't see in the video is me going to sit down on a chair and just contemplate mistakes I've made.

Well I guess that repair wouldn't have been possible without a sliding rear window. Which I don't have.

Not as easy that is for sure. you'd need to drop the whole headliner at that point. (or fold it down aggressively and deal with any creases that creates? You ... could if you were able to work in the blind, reach up from the back seat and get there without dropping the whole thing... but it would be a task of gymnast level flexibility.

After looking at all of the work involved, I was OK paying a body shop to repair it for me. No way I could have done that, or had the patience to do it. It was more expensive than I initially thought, but in the end glad to have it done. FWIW parts and labor, $465

Was it necessary to touch up the paint if you sealed it so well?

Possibly not, but I didnt want ANY chance of rust starting. Belt and suspenders when it comes to these kind of repairs, I dont want to do them again :)

Something funny - I just bought a used Honda CR-V (2009) and the old lady who was selling it mentioned the antenna was broken. I looked at it and it seems she did EXACTLY the same thing I did just to a lesser extent.... I repaired it the exact same way I did the ranger only without painting it (There were only little marks, so just covered them in RTV when I put it all back together) in ... 15 minutes.

Since you have just had this apart, and it is fresh in your mind.
To help future members - can you recall how the wiring is really running at this connection?

As the Ref diagram from the manuals is (Not Correct)
I am thinking the:

Black Connector - Runs to the Single
Blue Connector - Runs to the Splitter

the black and blue connector (my antenna is the same as yours, connect just to the passenger side to a matching black and blue connector, just a bout 7 or 8 inches from the hole in the roof. If you are looking from the back window they are right there.

I'm glad to see this. Mine was likely done a similar way but not quite as bad (I hope) There was a dent in front of the antenna that a suction cup fixed and now I just have to drop the headliner enough to pull the antenna and (hopefully) reseat it. Wish me luck it's not too bad for me to work with.
