Google Maps Gone, Merged with Waze?

After recently downloading Waze and using it for a few days, I realized that Google Maps was no longer an option in Sync. I am using AAWireless and Waze always pops up by default, no more Gmaps icon. Don't get me wrong, Waze is really good, the speed zone function is nice and more accurate than my Garmin. And the traffic and speed trap notifications are nice. But i still miss the compass. Oh well.

are you talking about Google on your phone or the built in Nav? If you remove Waze, does it come back?

I've used Waze, Apple Maps, and Google Maps and... they're always all available.

I am talking on the built in nav. There's no longer an icon for it, and when you are on the home screen and select maps (or nav) at the bottom it defaults to Waze. I have not tried to uninstall Waze on my phone.

Sync3 has always been that way. When you are running AA or CarPlay the built in nav is not available. The nav icon is replaced with either the AA or CarPlay icon on the Sync3 menu. When running AA or CarPlay what ever nav apps you have on your phone will be available to use, Google Maps, Waze, Apple Maps or some other nav app you may have installed on the phone, you change those from the AA or CarPlay home screen.

FYI, Google owns Waze and the Sync3 built in nav is not from Google.

I guess I should clarify, I do not have factory built-in nav, I was using Google Maps with AAWireless. When AA initialized, it had the Google Maps icon at the bottom. When I first installed Waze, I got the Google Maps icon and the Waze icon. I could toggle between the two. Then after a couple of days, the Google Maps icon disappeared.

do you have a page of apps? Is the Google Maps icon there? I know with Apple CarPlay there are 3 icons on the left and those are my recently used apps. It defaults to the last maps used and I have to go to the all icons screen to find the other map apps.

Yep, that was it! I almost never go to the AA homepage. Admin, you can delete this thread 'cause I feel dumb now.

It should take you to your most recently used.
