I’m curious about it, might do it. But there’s not a lot of space up there anyway.
A little goes a long way. When doing sound deadening you don't need to cover every square inch, just a little on the open panels would suffice. I bought some cheap stuff at Home Depot (I think) for my 2001 Ranger and it worked great. :like:

Question for yall for anyone who would know.
What should I put on top of this vinyl paint?? I don’t want it to chip like hell.
So what parts have the vinyl paint? Clearcoat would be my first choice, then something like the Graphene or Ceramic coating. Those two things do a great job of reducing UV fading and offer some minor protection - more against the sun and rain (and snow and ice, for me).

They fill in the micropores and offer a nice shine that lasts. Graphene will last up to a year (and it sure seems like it here after two New England winters). My Ranger stays outside and I swear the Graphene I did in September still makes it shiny by May/June. The more coats, the better it helps.

But it won't stop chips. Only something like a clearcoat will help with that. I suppose that body wrap stuff would be the ultimate in paint protection, but I don't know anything about it.

I just wanted to be sure I didn't lead you down a path of frustration. For your headliner, I wonder if Scotch Guard would be helpful to prevent fading and/or staining from a greasy finger, etc. (lol, or Flamin' Hot Cheetos, in my case!). =D

Good luck with it all and you are going to have a unique and beautiful badass Ranger when you're done! =)

@tygr2007 Here's a video of some sound deadening - it's for the doors, but you'll see how thin it is like veedubtuner said:

And here's a forum member talking about doing the headliner, but no pics:

Dang! You must of used a spray gun and not a spray can, right?

That looks like flawless coverage!

For chip resistance against like a sharp fingernail poking around those lights, clearcoat would be good.

I use the Graphene now on my interior stuff too. It works well on the instrument plastic window thing (also works on the windshield). I used to use the 303 Aerospace Protectant on outside plastics but got lazy and use the Graphene on that too, even on unpainted raw plastic like my XL mirror caps ands grill (and headlight plastic coverings).

I still use the Aerospace stuff on my tonneau because that a flexible vinyl covering.

Man, you have some serious paint skills! =)

This is literally my first time using vinyl paint. It’s just a spray can but I appreciate it ??. It turned out pretty damn well.

But yes sir. Just going to lather on every protective thing. I’m going to try it on the back of one of the pieces first… in case it strips the paint or some weird shit. I’ll update soon.

I can't believe you use the Graphene inside and it doesn't bother you? That stuff is so strong the first time I used it I was in the garage with the doors and windows closed and was seriously light-headed from it.

Now we know why David does so many dump runs. ?

You forget that I routinely spray the engine bay with varying scents such as: cinnamon, peppermint, cayenne, and add hints of balsam to both bay and cab.

It's a veritable rolling bathroom potpourri dish! =D

Putting on NXTZEN ceramic coating and then will put on 303 graphene when it comes in! Doesn’t seem to scratch easy but I’d rather be safe than sorry. ?

This is taking a lot longer than a month! Can't wait to see the final results.
