TLDR: I really liked mine, and would buy again.

I've posted my opinions on the Velossatech a few times, but the short version is: I believe I was getting about 1.5-2 more mpg with it. But my driving habits and driving routes for commuting may not be typical of most people. For this thing to function as it was design (ram air), you must be up to speed for it to force air into the intake. It's not going "suck in" air when accelerating. So if you have longer commutes running 55+, I think it's worth it.
By "up to speed"....what does that equate too ??? Is it between warp 3 and 4, or just below hyperspeed ???

I recently heard about these! Yay or nay? I plan on installing the ford performance kit with the rousch cold air intake kit with the afe scoop! Is the velossa tech a waste of $ or beneficial?

I installed one a few years ago and noticed a slight .2-.3 mpg increase.
Not bad for the cost.

AFE scoop does reduce intake air temps by a few degrees but only while driving.

velossa tech big mouth, idk didn’t do testing but got bored of having no mods to do at the time so it’s in there.

roush intake sounds amazing, gives a slightly better pedal response with the extra airflow and slight hp increase but if I really wanted power and I were to do it all over… I would go injen or mishimoto. Both performed slightly better than roush intake on a dyno.

And yes I’ve seen customer produced dynos for all three. Even roush intake gives you 5-10 hp compared to stock. But injen and mishimoto will be closer to 8-13 hp.

all in all, modding is fun but if you were focused on power, skip the scoop and big mouth. Buy a tune, cold/hot ic pipes, intake and lastly an exhaust. In order of biggest bang for buck in terms of power and cost ratio.

I just don't know if I could stand the pressure of having more HP or increased pedal response, etc. This old man gets all he wants out of the stock setup!

So...do we get pudding or applesauce for dessert tonight???

HEY!!!

Don't have a Big Mouth.....but I do have an engine cover, and that added a huge amount of "Butt-O-Meter" HP. In fact there's so much extra HP that I do wheelies every time I take off...so any extra HP would be just a waste !!!
Pudding for me....the "extra fattie fat" stuff !!!

I saw about a 2 mpg increase with it. It's paid itself off by now.

You realize that to measure any increase or decrease in mpg you muse use the exact perimeters for each of at least 4-6 runs....exact same route, exact same speed, same fuel, temperature, traffic, same # of stops and starts...ect ect. Change one item and outcome will be different.
Just making a few runs or tankful's will not give you an accurate measure.
You can easily get an increase in mpg just by changing one or two items like temp or number of stops/starts.
If, in fact, the addition of the "plastic piece" did increase the mpg on a constant basis, Ford would have already used it if only to increase the mpg's to make the EPA happy. A 2 mpg increase would be a big deal for a truck, and Ford would have already taken advantage of it.

You are 100% incorrect. Saying that the velossatech bigmouth increased mpg or horsepower or anything else is ridiculous. You don’t need to be an engineer to see that. Use some common sense. Look at the design and just follow the air path. Then try to tell me exactly how it is making a difference. And I also said it previously, if that thing did increase even 1 mpg ford would have figured it out a long time ago. I had one on my Ranger but I had to remove it to install something that is actually useful. Which is an LED light bar hidden behind the grill.
