I was wondering if anyone has experience with using a Livernois tune off-roading. Particularly how it effects trail modes and 4-low. I live in the mountains and I am out on the trails regularly. I never tow but I haul landscaping and building material often (never ending home owner projects). I'd like to have a tune I can flash and forget, I don't want to flash a new tune every time I go off-roading, or have to haul materials. Any suggestions or what your experiences have been would be great. Thank you.

I had the Livernois tune on my 2019 Ranger and have done a lot of off roading with it. If it was mild stuff I would leave it in but anything aggressive I would flash it back to stock. One time I was rock crawling and it was just to much with the tune even in the different trail modes.

If you're looking for a set it and forget it tune I would try the tow tune. Others here really liked it but I was never a fan of it. I bought a tune to get the most performance out of it so I ran the 91-93 performance tune. Once you upload your stock files (those take the longest) flashing between tunes only takes 3-4 minutes and I just left my tuner in the glove box.

Ditto here. I haven't had to flash back to the tow tune in quite some time but if the need arises itninly takes a couple of minutes.

I didn't realize flashing back to stock would be so quick. That's good to know. I like the idea of just keeping the tuner in the glove box. Thank you.

I'm guessing this has been asked but how does their tow tune differ from the Ford tune? I hate the price Ford charges but their tune seems like a set and forget.

Tow tune vs Ford Performance tune? Anyone have experience? With the new Rangers coming out I have the itch for a tune again lol

I simply use the tow tune and had no problems with a different four-wheel drive modes. This was on my 2019. If he asked me just run the tow mode so you still have the flexibility of running fuel as low as 87 octane and as high as 93 without problems.

I know you seem meticulous so if you had no issues, it must not be bad lol Even AZ ran it too. Maybe I am just worrying too much about the engine longevity.

Side note, used to be a Crown tech too. Then Raymond before switching industries.

I apologize if this is a silly question.
::Main Question::
If you get the Livernoise tune, then before taking to a dealer will the tune leave a footprint behind if flashed back to stock? (Say you had a 100k bumper to bumper warranty if they see it’s been running a tune it would void or reduce the power train warranty to 36k miles…? ..asking for a friend …?.) my initial thought is these trucks have some sort of data logging hidden away in the shadows.

::Nonessential Chitchat::
Ford performance tune vin specific tune?? I assume to apply the limited warranty…. “For that reason.. I’m out.” ?

I want the bump in power and don’t want to void warranty is that too much too ask? ? I already only run a minimum 91 octane.

Unfortunately they can tell every time the truck haas been flashed so there's no hiding it. It is recommended that you flash it back tom stock when taking it to the dealer for service in case they (the dealer) decide to do an update to your truck.

The Ford tune is Vin specific (where the Livernois tune is not) and must be installed by a dealer or certified mechanic to retain the warranty. It's a good bump in hp/tq but you get a lot more with the Livernois tune.

Since you're on a roll buying stuff if you're interested I am selling my Livernois tuner.?

The Livernoise tune will void the powertrain warranty as it technically is not approved by Ford.

The Ford Performance Tune will downgrade the Factory Powertrain warranty from 5/60 to 3/36 from the vehicle original purchase date(meaning when the vehicle was bought new by the first owner).

With the extended warranty you need to read the fine print. Even though the Ford Performance Tune is an approved Ford Product, any Extended Warranty could deny warranty with it installed as it is not original equipment.

But you’re gonna have to autograph it too

? also not joking, but I do think it would be funny. What’re you looking to get for it?

so as expected with the warranty.. lousy fun police robots.
Was hopeful the LT vs FPT, being able to hide the tampering done with Livernoise Tune to be a cheapskate and not void the powertrain warranty. Looks like Sport Mode till the powertrain warranty expires..
However I can still have the warranty voiding mods on the shelf till then… yes, I’m gonna have to read the extended warranty. Haven’t even looked at it for over a year.
Thanks Guys.

36,000 miles I’ll be over that by the end of the month, hopefully not… by the end of September for sure…? current modding plan is too maintain the warranty since we paid for it.
Once we feel it’s paid for itself though… might start having some real fun with it early.

I added it to my 2019 with only 2,500 miles on it and never worried about the warranty. Many here have the same tune and as far I know none have blown up theirs from running this tune. Not even Brandon @dondonbabyraptor who is near you in SD and runs his very hard has yet to have any issues. ? Come to think of it he hasn't been around in a while so maybe he's not a good choice.:oops:

I couldn't sign it 'cuz then you'd want to sell it for way more money than we'd have a lawsuit on our hands. ??

Hahaha I could see that being a concern, I just like being funny and it would be a conversation starter. However I understand. ::tear rolls down cheek:: ?

Hey Bryan,

Like Dave said, I have been running the FP tune ridiculously hard with full bolt ons minus the downpipe with no issues. I average 13 mpg on lighter wheels than stock so no huge tires just driving it like it’s stolen. Yeah nothing wrong yet and I installed the tune when the truck had 250 miles on it. Now at 50k miles. I guess the only real issue is having too much smiles per gallon but less miles per gallon ?

One thing to note though, which wasn’t much of an issue a few years ago… there is a company that builds bigger turbos for the ranger and I’ve been considering one but I would need a tune that can be adjusted with data and by a tuner. So if you plan on going balls out crazy with engine mods, I would say no FP tune.
