PSA: When you have a German Shepard Dog (GSD) you just need a pull behind dog trailer! but I just cut a piece of Hall Rug runner, mine stays out of mud and dirt, I just need it for wear of where he jumps in and lays, with GSD owners the biggest thing is the Hair, HAIR! LOL they Shed once a year and it lasts 12 months, then twice a year they blow their coat and all you can do is laugh and say Oh FFS because its comedy material, if I drive by you there will be hair in your truck too!
if you open the window on the interstate your life becomes a Horror movie
Brushing dont help, I can get two walmart bags out of him and still have the same amount of tumble weed rolling around the floor, its like they manufacture it in real time as you brush!

After one day you just give TF up and start to re think life,
WTF do I even care what the back seat looks like!

Owners know the only vacuum that can survive two days with a GSD is the Shark! or a Craftsman ShopVac
I am not even kidding or being overly dramatic! .... /End PSA you have been warned!

I know the feeling. We have had a Samoyed and an Alaskan Malamute before. Both of them would blow their coats twice a year, and our house looked like we had an inch of snow.

When we had the Malamute, we also had a Great Pyrenees. Both dogs were 85 pounds, and my wife would take them everywhere in her Mini Cooper. We kept the back seats down and had an interior cover made by Mini themselves, but the sight of two 85 pound dogs in a Mini Cooper was also hilarious.

I have read good things about that brand.
I had a Weather Tech in the Ranger and the K9 in the wife's Bronco Sport. Weather Tech fit so so and I was pleased when the wife said we'll use your truck to haul the dog. It fit both vehicles well.

They are the most majestic looking dogs. And they aren't called German Sheders for nothing!

try a northern breed next time (husky, malamute, etc). ;-)

I have this one in my Ranger. Works great. I usually don't put it in hammock mode. Hammock mode only comes into play for longer road trips when my terrier comes along and I want to give him a little more space.

Seat Cover for Dogs | Heather Dog Car Hammock (kurgo.com)

I occasionally think about changing it out because of 2 issues. First is that it doesn't have door protector side panels like the one in my wife's car (I don't remember the brand on that one). The other issue is that since the middle seatbelt on the Ranger doesn't disconnect easily to thread it through, I have to remove the seat cover so someone can sit in that spot. Doesn't happen often, but it has happened more than once. And it usually happens when folks are wet and/or muddy from paddling, mt biking, or hiking. So I'd rather leave the seat cover on for those times.

I went with a hard floor hammock style for my 60lb Wired Haired Pointer. yesterday actually!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C93QVJZX?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Have not tried it yet. Come with a nice carry bag

Best solution I ever had was when I had a Great Dane and my friend had 2 Danes. We both had S10 Blazers and 1 Dane barely fit! For long trips we would use my short bed Datsun pu bed trailer with a camper top - They Loved it! Only down side was Great Dane tails are like baseball bats and they were so happy to be riding they beat their tails bloody in the trailer. looked like a horror movie inside

That looks like a great option - My first cover was too thin which is why I bought the one I did (which has worked out great) - but the hard floor looks really good. I would be interested to know how it works and fits once you try it out. It does look like it would give more space.

So true, after the last 2 coated Shepherds, I got the shortest hair puppy I could find, the wife makes jokes about how there are no hair bunnies rolling around everywhere, she barely sheds, her coat is like a waterproof jacket, after a bath she just shakes and she is dry.

This is with the Ruff Liner, the wife's SUV has the hard floor model, I'm going to either try and put a stiff panel in it or buy the other type.
The black thing behind the console is a big chunk of foam with vinyl on it to try and fill the space behind the console for her to lay on and there is a even bigger chunk of foam behind the passenger seat to fill that gap.

That's the one I have. Hard floor gives them more room. Pleased with mine.
