That spot for the (Mid-Level) IPC
  • Rotating RTT indicators:
    • Lane departure warning
    • Lane keeping assist on
    • Forward collision warning alert
    • Distance alert
All of which have been covered already
That could make sense, as I am usually in the process of kicking down to evade/avoid a vehicle that has caused me to maneuver. The interactive cruise control keeps the distance between the next vehicle for me. Probably the most often instance of seeing that warning is when I am in the right or middle lane and I am approaching a slower moving vehicle. If I see a line of vehicles moving at my speed or somewhat faster and I believe I am going to be "scraped off" (where I get blocked in behind the slow mover by a line of vehicles) I will kick down and get around the slow mover before the pack catches up to me, sometimes topping 80 and without disengaging the cruise control. I habitually use my turn signal when I do that, perhaps that is what the light is fussing about if I neglect to signal? I tried to duplicate that today when I was out, but there was no place around here to get to those speeds.

So, it is not so much a "You are about to kill your vehicle" warning as it is a "You are about to die" warning?

Overriding the Set Speed
WARNING
WARNING: If you override the system by pressing the accelerator pedal, it does not automatically apply the brakes to maintain a gap from any vehicle ahead.

When you press the accelerator pedal, you override the set speed and gap distance.
Adaptive Cruise Control Warning Light
Use the accelerator pedal normally to intentionally exceed the set speed limit.
When you override the system, the green indicator light illuminates and the vehicle image does not appear in the information display.
The system resumes operation when you release the accelerator pedal. The vehicle speed decreases to the set speed, or a lower speed if following a slower vehicle.

This explains it - but the color is wrong and possibly the indicator

Took this just for you:

ETA on the fuel economy if I don't get up on the highway it suffers, especially with the RTT and my heavy right foot

Yeah, collision warning thingy.
I've seen that, albeit very infrequently.

I'm betting it is, actually.
Wait for the OP to chime in....
I see it on the highway more, tards like to squeeze in wherever they see an opening in traffic and the truck throws that up.

Mind you this isn't the flashing warning, this comes up based on your distance and speed between you and the vehicle immediately ahead. I believe cruise has to be off, actually. Not unusual I'm instinctively tapping the brake when I see it coming and that deactivates cruise as it is.

Thanks for that. Oddly, the OMG!!! red warning that illuminates in the center of the instrument panel doesn't come on, and I am not within two car lengths of another vehicle. I hesitate to ask how fast you were going when you got that photo!

Issue solved. Years ago, I worked for a VW dealer back in the days (mid 70s) when front disc brakes were coming into regular use, but they hadn't figured out how to silence the squeal. A customer came in and said to the service writer, "What can I do about brake noise?" The service writer recommended she turn up the radio. In my case, I will quit worrying about it. Thanks to all who answered.

Limit is 75mph, 80-85 wouldn't even get you a second look from highway patrol, I typically set the cruise around 80 on the highway where it was taken

I thought of this discussion so I saw the dummy coming and grabbed the phone and I started applying the brakes and saw it pop up. Took the photo, changed lanes and went on my merry way ?

A lesser man might have been tempted to use sign language but I've made strides in recent years to avoid such behavior. Mainly because I'd rather not explain the aftermath of kicking somebody's ass on the shoulder to my employer. Cooler heads and all that.

I found that if I used my ford pass app to start the truck in the winter here in Montana I would get a wrench light and the truck would go in limp mode. How I fixed it was delete that stupid app and crank my truck with the key. No issues since!
